I think this deserves its own thread, but if SN disagrees, he can feel free to merge it with the points ranking (which you should obviously check out first).
Here are the final win counts both team and individual in PT races for this season. Just a quick key first:
Mon = Monument
SR/CL = Stage race overall win or a classic (includes GTs)
GT ST = Grand Tour stage win
ST = Other stage wins
JERS = Points or KOM jersey wins
Total = Does not include jerseys
Here are the team rankings to start:
| Team | Mon | SR/CL | GT ST | ST | JERS | Total | | Vesuvio-Accumalux | | 6 | 5 | 13 | 3 | 24 | | Good Energy | | 3 | 7 | 7 | 2 | 17 | | Simply Red Bull | 1 | 4 | 3 | 8 | 2 | 16 | | Festina - Canal+ | 1 | 1 | 2 | 10 | 3 | 14 | | Pokerstars.com | | 4 | 6 | 4 | 1 | 14 | | Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank | | 5 | 3 | 6 | 2 | 14 | | Wikipedia | | 2 | 4 | 8 | 4 | 14 | | Becherovka - Kiwibank | 1 | 1 | 2 | 9 | 3 | 13 | | Team Vueling Airlines | | | 1 | 8 | | 9 | | Lotto - Australia Post | 1 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 8 | | Project 1t4i | | 1 | 2 | 5 | | 8 | | Bouygues Telecom | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 6 | | Pendleton's | | 1 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 6 | | Aker-MOT | | | 1 | 4 | 1 | 5 | | Santander | | | 5 | | 2 | 5 | | VolksWagen-Mapei | | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 5 | | ING - Pro Cycling Team | | | 2 | 2 | | 4 | | Rothaus - Aegon | | | 2 | 2 | 1 | 4 | | Team B&O | | | 3 | 1 | | 4 | | Prio - Porto | | | 1 | 2 | 1 | 3 | | Swisscom - UBS | | | 2 | 1 | | 3 | | Oz Cycling Project (PCT) | | 1 | | 1 | | 2 | | Quickstep (PCT) | | | 2 | | | 2 | | Team Bpost - Vlaanderen | | | | 1 | | 1 | | Team Puma - SAP (PCT) | | | | 1 | | 1 | | Heineken-Cal Giant (PCT) | | | | 1 | | 1 | | Jaguar - Eritel (PCT) | | | 1 | | | 1 | | Metinvest-Emirates (PCT) | | | 1 | | | 1 |
Vesuvio were so completely dominant this season with an astonishing 6 wins in overall or classics. Just these 6 wins alone put them ahead of about half of the PT. But it wasn't just that - they managed 18 stage wins throughout the entire season, which is really amazing. With that stat it is kind of amazing that they didn't win the rankings. In fact Wikipedia only managed 14, so clearly they were just more consistent across the entire season.
Several teams at the top struggled to turn their stage wins into overall wins, which clearly cost them in the rankings. Good Energy had the second most wins but were still a long way back from the two leaders in the rankings. Festina are another perfect example of this - 10 non-GT stage wins with only one SR/Classic win this season. This is without having a true top sprinter. Team Vueling are another example of this, with 8 stage wins but no overall.
We can also see here one of the reasons that several teams are relegating - for example Santander had nothing beyond their 5 GT stage wins. Rothaus, Prio and ING all had 5 or fewer wins and the fact that my own BPost had fewer wins than 2 PCT squads pretty much says it all. This shows the importance not just of winning things, but of having a rider who can win big. None of these five teams had an overall or classic win and in fact it is possible to think that VW's survival may be down to the fact that they had one big win this season.
Special mention go to Oz and Quickstep for managing to win not just once, but twice at this level.
Here are the individual rankings:
| Rider | Mon | SR/CL | GT ST | ST | JERS | Total | | Andy Schleck | | 3 | 3 | 4 | 3 | 10 | | Simone Ponzi | | 1 | 3 | 5 | 2 | 9 | | Taylor Phinney | | 2 | 1 | 6 | 2 | 9 | | Yuri Trofimov | | 5 | 1 | 3 | 2 | 9 | | Sam Bewley | 1 | 2 | | 5 | 3 | 8 | | Ben Swift | | | 1 | 5 | | 6 | | Frank Schleck | | 2 | | 4 | | 6 | | Jose Alarcon | | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 6 | | Simon Spilak | | 1 | 1 | 4 | 3 | 6 | | Tom Boonen | | 3 | 1 | 2 | | 6 | | Damiano Cunego | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 5 | | Erik Mohs | | | 4 | 1 | 1 | 5 | | Fabian Cancellara | 1 | 1 | | 2 | | 4 | | Justo Tenorio | | | 4 | | | 4 | | Rein Taaramäe | | 1 | | 3 | 2 | 4 | | Daniel Martin | | 1 | | 2 | | 3 | | Jerome Coppel | | 1 | | 2 | | 3 | | Peter Kennaugh | | | | 3 | | 3 | | Sergei Kolesnikov | | | 1 | 2 | | 3 |

Vesuvio with 3 riders who each had 6 or more wins show the value of having big name leaders, though perhaps we can also see here a reason that they didn't win the title. These riders accounted for 22/24 wins this season implying that there is perhaps a slight lack of leadership depth. So if these riders aren't riding then the team doesn't win much.
Trofimov is worth noting here with 5 SR/Classic wins this season, accounting for all of Tinkoff's biggest wins. If they can just get one or two more riders capable of big wins then they are going to be a scary prospect next seasons.
Finally, we should enjoy the fact that we get to see Boonen, Cunego and Cancellara all on this list and you have to wonder if this might be the last time. They may win again but with them dropping stats it is going to be rarer and rarer.
NOTE: The PCT/CT one will come in the next couple of days but it is much harder to format and write about with the different categories and huge number of teams.

Not that many wins from my team, but I've never been happier in the mangame than when Preidler won the Climbers Jersey. It's pretty magical to win something like that with a rider you bought at level 1

Thanks for putting this together, CoutnArach. Good to see the five monuments won by different teams. Also nice to see that all PT teams eventually got at least one win this season
I must agree with CA seeing only three Vesuvio riders claim 22 wins in total. It says a lot about Wikipedia's consisteny that they could do better with ten wins less. |

Nice work CA! Interesting to see the win counts roughly following the rankings, bar the three main outliers of Wikipedia, UBS and B&O - all of whom seem to rely on depth more than big winners - though Phinney, Amador and Pluchkin are all big individual scorers. |

Great job Count, some interesting stats! I think I should be on 5 CL/SR wins though, not 6! So it is actually 22/23 wins belong to Schlecks and Swift.
It really was a perfect year for both Schlecks, which this just highlights.

Consistency yes, but they certainly make up for a lack of top name leaders with the amount of breakaway success/luck they get. When playing the GTs, it was very common to see riders like Atapuma as strongest in the break - often on stages where it was able to stay away. Meyer clearly had a successful time of it as well. In various races they have had decent/very good scores by Phinney, Denifl, Van Garderen supplemented by breakaway points.
Whereas I'm not really a breakaway team - besides the Kirsch TdF win.
Perhaps next year we can add an extra variable to the win counts - whether the win was in a breakaway or not! That would be interesting.

Yes this makes very nice reading Count thank you. I guess with the two chrono guys and the super acceleration mountain man I was most likely to get the wins.
It is suprising that we do not get a number of sprinters up high - but I don't think this has ever really been the case for the way AI works. Boonan and Bewley rather distort things I guess being cobbled/Sprinters. I think Bennati was pretty successful back in the day.
Swift for me with just 6 wins is slightly wierd considering statistically from what I can see he should be the best sprinter in general.
I suppose in real life Cav, Griepal etc boost their win counts with wins in small Sh*t races. I wonder though whether there is a slight overemphasis from available stages on hilly/mountain parcours in the stage races? Though hilly stages in a mountain stage race are largely an utter waste of time as these seem to go to breakaways.
Another recommendation - but would add to the time of this would be to add number of podiums... though obviously that really adds to the work!

Really nice stats 'Count', I now envisage you look like this sat at your computer
In combination with the other great stats from OlegT, makes me wonder if the majority of the points difference at the top of the table between Wiki and Vesuvio is in large part down to the contribution from young rider classifications/jerseys. Don't have the facts to hand, but sure Phinney, Pinot, MCarthy, et al. will have made good points scoring contributions from this aspect.
Considering this, and again in combo with OlegT stats, hard to see Wiki not being there or there abouts in the standings for the next 5+ years. Very well thought through from their management team, chapeau.
Little off topic, but does also chime though with other discussions around introducing top talents into the game a wee bit later to avoid many riders with a decade or close to of maxed stats; 4 or 5 years seems plenty in all but the most exceptional circumstances!

Well done CA!
It´s a pity AI favour breakaway so often, otherwise number of my winnings (ST) would be most likely a bit higher.

Nice counting Count
That has to be some serious hard work to put it all together (especially for later PCT counts).
Amazing win total from Vesuvio and especially Schleck+Swift.
We are in the rankings!

Well done, Count. One of my better seasons stage win-wise, I think - Kennaugh did his job well, although it wasn't enough to safe me from the relegation zone battle. |

Thanks for the work Count, I love the man game for the facts, figures, stats and spreadsheets, so things like this are just brilliant for analysis and to see just how some teams managed success compared to others.
