Hi guys!!
I want to create a historical DB. I have some doubts about the proper year but I believe it will be 2000 which was the year that I started to see cycling with proper eyes.
I have the will, time and ideas to start and finish this project. However I'm somehow a noob about editing DB's.
I want this DB with real quality and be a proper DB to be played for many years with all the stuff (variants, sponsors, youngsters, etc).
I can do a bit of everything but I need some help explaining on how to do certain stuffs and help for stages, graphics, etc.
My ideas:
- All the teams from that year must be in DB with accurate stats and graphics;
- Real calendar with as many proper routes as possible. I don't mind if it has fake routes. The calendar it's the real deal;
- The fitness program must be accurate due to all the changes made in calendar;
- Change the current system of points ( Pro Tour Rankings) and made it correct for that year;
- Palmares, records, popularity, etc
Stylus had a very good DB from last year which needed just some tuning. As he's banned I can't ask him if he authorizes that I can convert to this years game. I don't know either how to convert a DB from a year to another.
This is why I need your help guys. If this is not motivating or it is time consuming to you feel free to say. I don't mind.
Essentially, I just need to learn how to edit some stuff in DB's. But it would be great if we could pull this project off.
Let me know what you think, feel free to say anything and PM me if you want.
Cheers. |

Hi again guys.
Have a couple of questions:
1- How can I change the calendar in Lachi or some other editing program? I want the DB to start in 2001 (I know this can be done in GAM_config). However I want the races to start in their precise dates, like the TDF in July for example. Is this in sta_stage table and changing the date there?
2- Doing this, it will be better to change the training programs for AI teams. How can I do this? I've searched in STA_program but this is so much stuff that I don't know where to start?
3- I want to make the real calendar, even if it is with some fake routes. How can I do this? Is it possible doing this changing the name of some races, introducing the real name and then link this to fake stages and routes?
4- How can I see if the stages from last year are compatible with this year's game? Just copy and paste in this years stage directory?
Thanks in advance.

1. Go in STA_stage and edit gene_i_day and gene_i_month, yes.
3. Yes, you can. As some db makers have already done, for example, if you want to use the route of Il Lombardia, but it's missing, you can use a similar route and rename it properly.
4. Normally all the PCM 13 stages are 100% compatible with PCM 14.

Cheers matt. Thanks for your answers.
- I'm a bit afraid that if I change the calendar, the other teams doesn't peak in the right moments. Do you know how can I change this?
- To test if they're compatible it is only copy them from the CM_stages of PCM13 and paste it on the 2014 folder? Let's say that I want the route from 2000 TDF as the initial one. How can I do this? |

You can't check if all the PCM 13 stages you have in your folder are made with the PCM 13 editor that is compatible with PCM 14, but most of them will work, as IIRC pcm 12 stages will have ai problems with PCM 13 and will not most likely be present in your cm_stages unless they were converted, so yes, they will work.
You can set a certain variant as the starting one editing gene_sz_currentvariant in sta_race (so if you want 2000, write down 2000 into it) and the column gene_sz_variant in sta_stages doing the same as above

I've done this last bit of advice, editing in Expansion Pack V2 and it didn't work matt. Continue to have the 2014 version as the starting route in TDF.
Just an example. |

Have you done so with every single stage of the tdf in sta_stages?

Yes I did. Do I need to write the exact name? I've only add "2003". Does it need to be "bigggassi-2003" or something like this? |

You have to write down the name after the last underscore (after the name of the race). For example. for this roma maxima, you'll have to write asodb1 into those columns because:

I've tried it again and trying to match it in the sta_stage with the full name. Like it is saying in this thread and what I've understand about your post: https://pcmdaily.c...d_id=28952
This time I tried in Stylus DB on PCM13 to change it for the 2003 variant. It stayed the same route!!

I want to get this solved
Can you post your database and a screen of the names of the stages you want to set as variants please? I'm sure that we'll get this done

Haha.
Here they go. Sorry for all of this but I just want to learn what I'm doing wrong and learn to set this up for the future.
The idea for the future is to make my DB and put the 2000 TDF as the starting one without compromising the other variants.
Just for the purpose of learning how to do this, let's use the PCM Daily Expansion Pack (springupdate) and the variant will be the 2002 TDF of Bigggassi.

And now the DB. For some reason it didn't let me put the 2 files together.

Found it I think
You forgot to put "v3-" before biggassi-2002 and you put the whole name of the stages in sta_stages. Now I edited it and it's all solved I hope

I don't want to be a pain but it's not working lol
Could it be the fact that I made multiple instalations? I tried to put each instalation in a totally separated file and then pasted it in the game file when I wanted to play one DB. Could it make a difference? I tried to do things correctly.
For example. I've two different installations. One for the 2000 DB and one for the daily DB. When copying and change the files could this be a factor. I'm almost sure that I've made this correctly. Should I reinstall it and have only one file?
Sorry for all of this but I want to give an accurate feedback for all your efforts. If you see that I'm being a pain/feel bored with this don't hesitate to tell.
Thank you!!

Nah, it can't be the actual problem. Sadly I can't check if it works for me in game as it crashes before the stage selection screen, should be because we haven't got the same db installed and I probably miss some stages that you instead have.
Just to be sure, could you put the 21 tdf stages of the 2002 variant into documents/pcm 14/mod/stages and then start the game and check if it works (but it probably won't)?

The only two silly ideas I have: Select all the 2014 TdF stages and cut and paste them into a new folder somewhere and see what happens. If the game can't find the 2014 stages, maybe it'll have to listen to you and use the TdF stages you want. The other idea being - again, backup those stages and then rename your 2000 (or 2002 Biggassi) stages into 2014 stages. |
