A short stage (115km) finishing off with a circuit through Alger.. the sprinters will try and keep scoring points towards both the stages and the GC.

Forero with now two stage-wins may be considered as the top-favorite, while especially Vingerling impresses with some consistent sprinting so far..

The biggest break of the day in the race so far: 6 riders, of which all lost minutes in yesterday's split-festival.

The biggest news with now 35km remaining and ONCE, Fletcher and Bonsucro leading the chase: heavy crosswinds (50-55kmh) again make for a challenging day in the saddle.

The breakaway's advantage is at 2'15" right now..

14km remaining and the bunch is still fighting to close the gap, which is down to a minute in the meantime.. Bonsucro and Fletcher keep working!

But one lap later (just 5km to go) it ain't looking to good for the bunch, as the escapees (except of Sironnachai) still hold on this minutes-lead!

Anyway, there's no real GC-threat in this group, where Valencia seems to launch a late move now..

Valencia attacked the leading group and established a notable gap on the remaining escapees quickly!

He holds on to it and takes out the fifth stage here! A nice effort and some good points for Nutresa, which struggled to be much a factor in the bunch-sprints so far.

Forero, who defends his points-lead that way.

No notable changes in the GC, where Fernandez stays safely in yellow with now just one flat stage to come. The battle for the final podium-spot though is still open, even though Forero has a slight advantage on Vingerling, GuillÃ©n and Meyer. Of course anything can happen, given the crosswinds we've seen here so far. Stay tuned!
