I am in career mode with my custom team and just finished the first stage of the Tour. Barguil was part of the breakaway as I thought I'd get him some early points for the polka dot jersey and bring him back to the peloton after the 3rd climb. Turns our that we're already 20mns ahead and the breakaway ended 45mns ahead of the peloton.
So Barguil is already 45mns ahead of all the leaders. All I need to do is just do all the mountain stages at my own pace, don't need to follow any attacks and I'll probably win the Tour.
I won't complain as mu sponsor's objectives was to finish in the top 3, but it's obviously unrealistic. Anyone else has had that problem?
No, I'm on hard. It's the first time that the breakaway finishes with such a gap. I've had breakaways that have gone the whole way when a sprinter "should" have won, but nothing like that.
Flat stage? Did you have a good sprinter in your team? In certain situations, the AI decides that your team has to chase the breakaway.
To prevent it, for example when your rider is leading the overall, set one of your helpers to short relay at around 55%. You can regulate his % so that the gap never grows big.
Yeah it was a flat stage, the first of the Tour. I also have Bouhanni in the team, but quickly realised that the breakaway was gaining a lot of time, so didn't really chase it.
If anything like that happens again, I'll follow your advice, but I've never had a breakaway that took so much time so quickly on the peloton
