The fdb comes with an altered local.cdb.
Certain texts have been deleted to change the look of the first screen in the game.

To fix it, you either have to get rid of the fdb by re-installing the game like this:
1. Uninstall the game
2. Delete the pcm14 folder in C:\Program files\ (or wherever you installed the game)
3. Install the game
4. Install the latest patch
5. Start a new career

Or you could try to enter the missing texts into the local.cdb, but this might not be easy.
