I don t know if this has been discussed before but this would be a great feature. So my question is:
Can you make the 'follow' button always active?

Who is "you"? We are a community and cannot reprogram the game.
I am not sure what you want to achieve but there are other orders you can give to your riders. For example you can use "take position here" or whatever it is called. |

"You"=the player
I thought it is possible to change some values in an editor.I don't know very well how the game works.

No, this cannot be edited. It is programmed in the game.
What do you want to use this button for? |

I find that sometimes both the "follow" and "follow attack" buttons don't work as they should, as your rider often stops following before he has reached the other rider, even though he has loads of energy. Also is there any real difference between the "follow" and "follow attack" buttons, as they both seem to do the same thing when I've used them?
Also I guess raz wants to use the follow button to follow a favourite and instead of doing at the time, wants to do it earlier on the stage as preparation. I think this would be a good option.
Also the "Take Position Here" button is something I never use, is this 'to follow another rider' like what I've said above? |

Exactly..In my opinion you can organize better your team and it's a easier method to follow attacks (especially on flat)
"Take Position Here" button it's used to take a position somewhere in peloton depending on the positon of another rider at a moment.

I agree that this could be useful in a lot of cases, mostly because the follow attack button is not always working as attended.
However, I imagine that this would change the gameplay a lot, since you could just "man mark" any rider and easily follow him. This would make it extremely hard to get the leaders jersey of a strong rider. A big element of the game and cycling in general is that you have to stay focused through the stage. A follow button would in this case mean that the leading rider has an "auto pilot" feature, which would weaken the gameplay in my opinion. |

In previous versions it was possible to mark a certain rider by observing him, not sure if they have taken it out.
I don't use "Take position" but can't you right click a certain rider and take position near him?
I think it would be lame if you could just attach your rider to another rider.
And you can use the new auto-mode of the game if you don't want to control your riders.

This happend just when you make the command. If that rider change his position your rider will not go after him.

Not really, because when playing the game so much is happening and not just with your lead rider but also with the rest of team, other riders attacking or being dropped, crashes and action in the breakaway. If you're looking at all this, its often easy to miss the starting attack of your main rival, whereas a 'pre-set follow button' would be like a warning light. |

Returning to first post... In this year version you can protect rider which protect another which protect another... which protect leader. Last year also you could do it but it was a much more complicated. It is not very efficient when it comes to use of riders (team actually) energy but follow also. So I think this is the same effect like in sprint train just this car is rear wheel drive not front Discovered by myself hehe

Edit: I played with this "tactics" Ronde van Vlaanderen and that was... MASACRE. Boasson Hagen was engine of this car, and effort was 45-55. Last 35km he was alone in the group of few favourites. I was finally 2nd with Boasson Hagen (Cob 76, Hill 75, End 75, Res 74) after Cancellara (PCM Focus DB but with normal stats, hard diff.). Just look at the results (and how far are Boonen and other favs) Only 69 riders in time limit. HUGE benefit of this "tactics" is that your whole team is together, they not drop, not stuck, all yours 8 cylinders works and set the pace. Im surprised and I'm starting to wonder whether this is not cheating (soft cheating, like train camps e.g.)
I think this will be used in Armada mode from now pretty often...
