Hi again everyone, hope you're all enjoying the real TDF too.

I am really struggling with the PCM2014 feature relating to objectives. I am trying to essentially create teams to compete in competitions important to my sponsors and their goals. In doing so, I can keep individuals happy by having them concentrate their own personal objectives around events such as Crit. Dauphine and TDF, but it appears that no-one half-decent or better (avg above 65) is interested in La Vuelta, Paris-Nice and the Classics.

Is there anyway to have the game automatically set objectives for riders which ties in with the goals of the sponsor (/s) ?

I really like the feature but it seems like it has been thrown in halfheartedly by the developers.

I hope someone can help and show me an easier way than compiling a matrix over the course of a week to set my team up for a season.

What I do is give the helpers the same goals as the leaders they'll work for.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping to do. The problem is that, whoever I choose to focus on the Vuelta or Classics moans that the prestige is good but that they are unhappy as it doesn't meet their strengths. basically unless I set everyone to focus on the Giro or TDF they are unhappy. Clearly I can't select all riders for these 2 races (max 18).

As I said, great idea for the feature just not sure it works. If you could explain decision making to the riders then it would reduce the number of upset riders. You can't make everyone happy (e.g. Wiggo this season) but to have over half of the team upset at not being in the TDF team is ridiculous. Especially when this includes team members and young riders who would not expect to be selected. Surely they would be happier at the prospect of being a more vital part of the classics team or lesser UCI events where they might end up leading a team or being first choice sprinter for that event.

Best thing is to try to meet their objectives

But you can always add their objectives so the rider is happy and then manually adjust the fitness curves for your objective. So you might not have to add the Vuelta to the riders goals but you can still let him peak for that race in terms of fitness

Ahhh... I was thinking of meeting their objectives but then had the issue that they wouldn't be fit when I wanted them to be. How do you manually adjust the curves please ?

Londoner
Click/scroll on the 'fitness bars' to adjust their height

Hintze
You right-click/left-click on the bar, and by doing that you will adjust the curve.. A right click decrease and the other way around with left click!

Just an FYI, I've found today that if you set a raceas an objective, you can only set his strategy as leader or free element. Only a problem if uou want to autoplay the races, but just so you know...

Not true. You can change in strategy everything as you want for everyone. And what is really strange - it works. I just change role for Porte which have T-A as objective and give him helper + ride in breakaway. Then put him on auto and he go in break just after start.

Maybe the value in gene_i_popularity, in the table sta_race is connected with that. ?

Scratch previous comment! Seems that it isn't linked with the objectives, but if you click to change roles too often everyone gets set to Free Element. Work around seems to be drag and drop riders into the different strategy groups.

Its not beacause you click too often. When you choosing leader then you assign to him his helpers. By draging them to leader. When you choose second leader then you can change role to yours previous leader (always must be one leader at least ). So, when you change your previous leader to free role then all helpers assigned to him changes role to free role too. Beacause rider which was they leader is not leader anymore. This is pretty logical.
Try this: choose two leaders, assign 3 rider as helpers to first and 3 helpers to second. Then click on the first and change his role to free.
