Japan Cup
The continental decider saw Designa Kokken start 62 points behind Agritubel in the battle for the 2nd promotion spot. They needed Ghisalberti - the highest ranked rider to have not won anything - to come 1st with Agritubel out of the top 3 or 2nd with Agritubel out of the top 10. In a nail biting decider Ghisalberti got away on the penultimate lap with Sinkewitz, left Sinkewitz behind on the final lap and clung on for a fabulous win to take Designa Kokken into the ProTour.
Giro d'Italia
How can a race be nominated for most exciting and also most boring? I personally am in the finding it boring camp, but obviously some people felt excited by Cunego winning everything.
Deutschland Tour
We saw the emergence of Markus Fothen as a big contender as he held off supposed stronger opposition of Kloden, Dekker, Andy Schleck, Evans, Menchov and Rujano for an impressive win.
Tour de l'Avenir
This race was very interesting as it did not include leaders in every team and had fewer overall contenders, opening up the race for plenty of action. Unsigned frenchman Bacquet took 2 stages, Hagen 1, Baugnies 1, Cavendish 1 and Gesink 5 as the dutchman delivered an overall victory. Strong performances came also from Intxausti, Rodrigues and Pluchkin.
Dauphine Libere
We saw a Bolivian ProTour stage winner in a race that went down to the wire. Moncoutie won overall by 3 seconds over Rasmussen and 16 over Evans - with the Top 7 GC all within a minute of each other.
Also nominated: Stage 6 Tour de Suisse, Stage 3 Giro del Capo, Paris-Nice, Eneco Tour
