After playing PCM 2012 for several months and trying different careers (the longest was until 2021), I decided to upgrade the game to PCM 2013.
So far so good, except for some disturbing bugs, but leaving this things aside, I observed that I cannot manage some aspects of the game like I use to do in 2012.
- For example, the fitness schedule. In 2013 the things are easier or at least they try to seem like that. You chose the objectives and the fitness schedule changes according to these objectives. The problem is that I tried to do this with Andy Schleck, for example. I put Tour de France as a primary objective and everything was nice. But when I raced in Tour de France I observed that his fitness peak was in thefirst week of TdF, while in the last week, when I needed the most, his fitness downgrade to 2, even 3. In 2012 I could arrange his fitness in order to be at his best in the last week, but somehow the PCM 2013 adopted some of a sprinter like fitness schedule. I tried to fool Andy Schleck by putting as objective, besides Tdf, The Tour of Pologne, hoping that this will resolve the problem, but you imagine, he became very unsatisfied. How did you manage to resolve that ? For those of you who tried it, does the Laachi fitness schedule for 2013 resolved this problem ?
- Another problem is keeping my riders happy. It seems that I cannot find the right balance to make them happy. The true problem is that I don’t know how much each factors acts on their happiness. In 2012 good results and, if possible, their favorite races were enough to have everyone happy, or very happy. In 2013 I must keep an eye on their interest in some races, even if I don’t want them to ride those races, watch the prestige of the races, not speaking about the number of days raced and off course their results. So how much does everyone weights, because it seems to me it is impossible to keep them happy.
- What does influence the choice of a rider in signing or not a new contract ? In 2012 I think it was completely random, because sometimes it didn’t make any sense at all. It is the same in 2013 ? I hope not.
- How does the rhythm (the old race fitness) works in 2013 ? In 2012, from what I remember, a rider add ~2,5 at his race fitness for every day raced, until he reaches 20, and lose ~0,5 / day for every day he doesn’t race. I think, based on my observations, that in 2013 things are slightly changed, but I cannot figure out the formula yet. So if everyone knows the speed of rhythm increase and decrease, please help me.
Fitness Schedule:
It isn't listed really clear, but since the second-to-last patch, you can do it on the PCM 2012 way again, you can just click the bars. Easy as that
Keeping your riders happy:
Well, this is an annoying part indeed. But I'd say satisfaction doesn't have a lot of effect, if it has effect at all. You shouldn't spend a lot of time on it, it's not worth it
Signing:
Hmm, I believe it isn't random. I think it's just about which team comes the closest to his needs. (Contract, Wage, maybe division/team nationality as well?).
I haven't tested this though.
The Rhythm:
I haven't figured out the formula either, but I feel that, at least when you already have 15+ racedays, the rider gets in shape a lot faster. Also, the race day limit of 60(when your max race fitness drops after 60 race days or more) is gone in PCM 2013.

So I need to resolve my internet problem in order to have the patches.

I hope you are right, because my riders aren't happy at all.

That sounds nice. For now, I see that the rythm is not so different from the last year ... yet.
