Is it possible to increase the amount of pro tour teams simply by editing: Teams (fkIDdivision) and STA_race_rules (gene_i_max_team)?
If not, what else do I need to edit?

Why do you want to edit that number?
The column gene_i_max_team will increase the amount of teams participating in the races. But no matter what you edit, the absolute maximum of teams participating in races is 24. |

I want to start a career in 1998 and as far as I know there were 22 PT teams back then. In the DB I'm using there are only 20 PT teams and gene_i_max_team for races like Santos Tour Down Under and Tirreno - Adriatico are set to 19 and 20. So I figured the game would crash before these races unless i edit those as well.
Am I wrong? And do I need to edit anything else for this to work properly?

That's okay.  Of course. I've only managed to find a 2007 thread.
I've just come to realize that the PT teams didn't attend all PT races back then. Anyone who knows how race registration worked in 1998? |

IIRC you have to change the number of max teams for eg Pais Vasco, TDU etc. You can change ProTour teans have to participate in races in the STA_Race, somewhere near the end (don't know the exact name)
