Hello everybody!
I'm Stylus, a stagemaker from the italian community , although I'm quite new for the Cym world, I'm not so young really becouse I keen on historical events, in this case of cycling!
Since some weeks I'm Working on a Db based on 1961 Season.
The 1961 was a really rich year of great cyclist!
In Italy there was a really strong fight between Anquetil, Bahamontes and Charlie Gaul, three of the best grimpeur ever, for the maglia rosa, but surprisingly won an italian overrated cyclist: Pampianco! In the TDF Anquetil won the second Tour (the first of a sequence of 4) while a younger Poulidor was growing, winning Milano-Sanremo and reaching 2° in the Berna's WC.
But, instead of all, there was one of the best rider of the history: Rik Van Looy.
For these and other reason I decide to make a database based of 1961.
The work is not easy, whether for PCM limits whether for the lack of information, but we can do it.
One difficult choose is the lack of the career mode, for two reason:
- PCM don't recognise the birthday of the riders, and I can't make national teams for the Tour de France (but also for the Vuelta)
- A career as we know a season today it is absolutely unreal. In 1961 there wasn't so many and so invasive sponsors, there wasn't a so huge calendar and no division neither classifications between teams. In my opinion a good historical database of 40'50'60'70' don't need a career mode.
I want to do all my best, adding all the teams of that year, with all the cyclists and all the photos. Original routes for the main classics and the GT's , adding disappeared races (Deutschland tour, Trofeo Baracchi, Firenze - Pistoia) but I need a lot of help.
I need help for stages, becouse I'm only one and I need help to make shirts, becouse I'm not a shirt maker, but above all I need help in reaserching information, and I know that anyone could do it becouse do not need any particulary ability, especially for stage's graphic: they are very difficult to find.
I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS
- I find a way to remove the helmet from the cyclists, but not from the team that i'm controlling when I play;
- I need someone good in 3D model (an angel! ) who makes a new type of frame, more historical (Something like this https://img3.annun...ba_big.jpg )
This Is all, I hope to find some who want to give me an hand
After this post you will find a post when I collect all the information found and another one with some images (working in progress!)

Hello Stylus,i've never made a DB and i don't know how to made a DB,i hope to you to find someone to help you and i hope your DB1961 will come out soon because it's a fantastic project
I drew the frame from the "[HCD] - Historical Cycling Database - 1968 Project" . I wanna ask to the creator if I can use that, obviously with credits reported!
Looks like you put a ton of work into this!! Nice job!

Sure! Firstly I have to explain the way I used to assign the values: In fact, I evaluated that era: the best cyclist made a big difference during stages, and it was possible win Milano - Sanremo attacking from Passo del Turchino or regain twenty minutes during a mountain stage. Winning long stage, in spit of being flat, was an hard challenge.
So these are the best values!

The DB can't never reproduce the way they rode those times, it's far beyond the AI; but to help it, you have to put a strong focus on combativiry and flat issues as, as you said, races could be won on long flat stages or on attacks with more than 200Km to go.

The major part of cyclists has got poor value of flat and resistance, and everybody has got < 70 combat
