The day is December 22, 2012. While most people are busy with their Christmas shopping, the FDJ.fr have announced a press conference to announce some very big news. Team manager Marc Madiot, clearly exited, begins to speak to the exited crowd.
"Aujourd'hui est un grand jour pour le cyclisme français. Merci au ministère français du sport et le FDJ, nous avons pu augmenter notre budget massivement pour la saison à venir. Je peux vous garantir que la saison prochaine, vous verrez les meilleurs et plus talentueux cyclistes français dans notre équipe. Nous négocions avec plusieurs coureurs, qui nous l'espérons signer dans les semaines suivantes."
Spoiler Today is a big day for French cycling. Thanks to the French ministry of sport and our sponsor FDJ, we have been able to increase our budget massively for the upcoming season. I can guarantee that you will see lot of the best and most talented French riders in our team. We are in negotiations with several riders, who we hope to sign in the coming weeks.
The crowd of journalists, incredibly exited at hearing the news, starts asking questions.
"Seront tous les coureurs actuels dans l'équipe être conservées?"
Spoiler Will all riders that are in the team now be kept?
Madiot replies.
"Malheureusement, non. Les coureurs étrangers (Murilo, Jussi, Dominique) ont vu leurs contrats résiliés. D'autres coureurs seront probablement quitter aussi. Nous ne voulons pas de vieux coureurs à la fin de leur carrière, ils sont donc à risque de quitter."
Spoiler Unfortunately not. The foreign riders, (Murilo, Jussi and Dominique) will be terminated. Some other riders will probably leave too. We don't want the old riders at the end of their careers, so they are at risk.
Before he adds:
"Nous voulons uniquement coureurs francophones."
Spoiler We want only French-speaking riders.
I'll have to excuse my French, it is a combination of Google Translate and my own words

First signing
FDJ.fr have announced their first new signing for the 2013 season. Unexpectedly it was not a French rider, like everyone expected.

David Veilleux from Canada, or Quebec, as they like to say themselves. He is definitely a French-speaker, and his French heritage is really apparent in his attacking style, which makes him fit nicely into the team. |

The french is well... Sorry, I cant call it decent...
(I had to start several sentences several times in order to fully understand them... Maybe you could provide an english translation as well, so it clears up the french parts and makes it understandable for the people who dont speak french. You could put it in a spoiler...)
But, good luck... Le Quebecois Veilleux is a really nice signing. One of my must-have signings whenever i start a custom team career!

Gallopin signs
Tony Gallopin was regarded as the big hope for French cycling just some years ago. His progress hasn't really been as expected, but we hope that he can show what he's got in our team.

11 riders leave FDJ.fr
11 riders have left FDJ.fr. According to team manager Marc Madiot, they were all seen as surplus to requirements as the team are planning to bring in several new big names. The riders are all free to find new teams.
The riders are:
David Boucher
Sandy Casar
Arnaud Courteille
Pierrick Fedrigo
Murilo Fischer
Anthony Geslin
Laurent Mangel
Cedric Pineau
Dominique Rollin
Jussi Veikkanen
Emilien Viennet |

2 new signings
Sprinters Kevin Reza and Yohann Gene have signed with the team. They are good friends, and very good sprinters who surely will give the team some good results. Their background from Guadeloupe also gives FDJ.fr a more global, but still french-speaking touch.

Two more signings

Jerome Coppel, who is one of the better French climbers, was intended to sign with Cofidis for 2013, but when FDJ.fr came around with an offer that was hard to resist, he jumped on it. Jerome will be an important part of the climbing squad this season.

Romain Bardet is one of the most promising French climbers. He joins the team from AG2R, and will have a very free role in the team this year.

Promising sprinter signs with FDJ.fr
Bryan Coquard, one of the most promising sprinters in France has signed with FDJ.fr. We have big hopes for Bryan. Hopefully he will one day turn into one of the best sprinters in the world.

2 classics stars to FDJ.fr
Damien Gaudin and Sebastien Turgot are the two best French classics riders and two of the world's best. The hope of finally having a French Paris-Roubaix winner has grown with these two signings.

For those who do too.
Some parts look translated from English and miss words that'd be added in French here or there, while others have problems, mostly with verbs. |

Pierre Rolland signs!
The best French climber at the moment, Pierre Rolland has signed a contract with FDJ.fr. He will be our leader, and we hope that he can achieve good results in the very big races.

They're Continental, and they don't have Pinot, Demare, Bouhanni etc. The point is having a French superteam. |

Tour Down Under
Team:
Demare
Coquard
Reza
Veilleux
Gene
Roy
Vaugrenard
Spoiler Note: No photos and exported results. I did not think about making a story until after the TDU.
Spoiler The field in this years' TDU was weak. Incredibly weak. I used a variant, so the stages are not the normal one.
Stage 1: Virginia-Tanunda (flat)
This stage was incredibly buggy. Veilleux was in the breakaway and got the KOTM jersey. In the buggy sprint, we ended up doing a 1-2-3, with Reza ahead of Coquard and Demare. Weird, weird.
Stage 2: Tanunda-Mount Pleasant (hilly)
Veilleux went in the breakaway once again and got 30 new points on his jersey. In the hilly finale, Vaugrenard and Reza tried to follow the wheels, but they couldn't follow the lead duo of Mørkøv and Trentin. Our best finisher was Reza in 4th.
1. Mørkøv (SAX)
2. Trentin (OPQ) 0'
3. Ignatiev (KAZ) 17'
...
4. Reza (FDJ) 39'
Stage 3: Palmer-Echunga (flat)
Reza is proving to be by far the best sprinter in this weak TDU peloton, with only 75 SP, but with great form. His second win in three days!
1. Reza (FDJ)
2. Fenn (OPQ)
3. Haedo (CAN)
Stage 4: Strathalbyn-Brown Hill (hilly)
After several failed attacks inside the final 20-30 km's from tons of riders, including Roy and Vaugrenard, a fairly compact peloton started sprinting up the hill to the finish. The Italian Gavazzi won it, with Reza yet again our best finisher in 6th.
1. Gavazzi (AST)
2. Hansen (LTB) 0'
3. Visconti (MOV) 0'
...
6. Reza (FDJ) 0'
Stage 5: McLaren Vale-Old Willunga Hill (hilly)
The queen stage came along, with three passages of the Willunga Hill. Jeremy Roy made a clever attack on the long straight into the final climb to Willunga Hill with 15 km to go. He held on for a long time, but was eventually caught inside the final km, but held on to finish 6th, with Reza right behind in 7th. Pim Ligthart took a surprising win ahead of Urtasun and Gavazzi.
1. Ligthart (VAC)
2. Urtasun (EUS) 0'
3. Gavazzi (AST) 0'
...
6. Roy (FDJ) 34'
7. Reza (FDJ) 34'
Stage 6: Adelaide-Adelaide (flat)¨
A final chance for Reza to shine and advance in the overall. The stage was marred by the crash of 3rd placed overall Gavazzi who lost more than 5 minutes, but meant that Kevin Reza advanced to a nice 6th place overall.
Reza, a little tired from his previous efforts, couldn't get any further than 7th on this closing stage though, as Michael Matthews claimed a popular win, the first for the Aussies in the Tour.
1. Matthews (OGE)
2. Ligthart (VAC)
3. Haedo (CAN)
...
7. Reza (FDJ)
Overall:
1. Mørkøv (SAX)
2. Trentin (OPQ) 4'
3. Ligthart (VAC) 13'
4. Urtasun (EUS) 23'
5. Visconti (MOV) 25'
6. Reza (FDJ) 29'
7. Matthews (OGE) 41'
8. Hansen (LTB) 57'
9. Ignatiev (KAT) 1'01'
10. Veilleux (FDJ) 1'02'
11. Roy (FDJ) 1'03'
-----------------------------
Rest of the team:
15. Vaugrenard (FDJ) 1'03'
26. Gene (FDJ) 1'41'
65. Demare (FDJ) 3'50'
73. Coquard (FDJ) 4'53'
Veilleux got the KOTM jersey by a large margin, Reza got the points jersey.
