Yesterday's hilly encounter was not that decisive, however today's looks another steep test with two first cat climbs and a tricky ending with a short uncategorised climb near the finish.

It is one of the hardest starts to any stage anywhere in the world to the stage with a long hard climb to kick things off.

Duchesne is one of the rider 20 seconds down, so early pressure on Mobil.

Tabovitchii in the break is the only rider with KoM points and the others in the break allow him free access to the top points on the first climb.

It means Tanovitchii will draw level with Golas (Privat) the current KoM leader. Barton crosses second ahead of Duchesne and Bret, Hocevar is a couple of minutes behind in 5th.

Andersson, just 12 seconds behind on GC pushes on with his move as Hocevar joins the lead four before the first intermediate sprint.

Barton nabs this ahead of Duchesne and Bret.

It moves Duchesne to 16 seconds down overall to Ciocan, Duchesne wins the next intermediate to move even closer.

Barton is second and Bret third. The big news here is that Duchesne is now just 10 seconds down overall (and leading the youth competition).

Onto the second of our monster 1st cat climbs and Andersson has finally made the junction with the break to make them six.

Five minutes later the pack rolls over with no one attacking for the last points place.

The final intermediate sprint sees Duchesne take it again, with Andersson second and Barton third.

60km to go: The six man breaks lead is down to three minutes.

Furdi has been forced to lead out. Mori is the best GC man in second, then Vorganov, Jumerbekov, Feillu, Marzano and Dahlberg.

Forcing Furdi to lead out has jaded the Croat's sprint as Mori, Jumerbekov and Marzano come streaming past.
