Winning a stage race

I started doing Tour de France as a stage race, where I am team Sky. I cannot seem to beat Sanchez, he just keeps getting just ahead of my main guy (who was Hagen untill I switched to Wiggins). I try to stay just behind the front guys in the peloton with all my riders, however then a breakaway always seems to get away if I do not set the pace of the peloton myself.

Anybody have some tips for this newbie?

P.S. I am playing on normal mode

A: If you want the others to work, then untick Passive AI in multiplayer.
B: Try to decide your leader in the beginning of the race. This should be the best mo/tt in your team
