Is there way to edit in game stages?

I always have a problem with getting my created stages into the game so instead i just want to try and edit a stage already in the game rather than create my own and having to make sure i fill everything out correctly in the editor and name the file correctly (cos i never seem to get it right). Is there any way for me to take a stage already in the game and just edit it and then save it and play it in the game?

I believe that is easy: Make a backup of the original stage file(s). Copy your file(s) into
the folder. Rename it the same as the original stage file(s).

BTW: You cannot edit existing stages unless you have the stage-editor file of them.
