Welcome to Team Saxo-Tinkoff: Back to the top story!
This story is about Team Saxo-Tinkoff, which experienced the worst season last year, and Roman Kreuziger.
Czech rider was one of the most promising talents of cycling winning Junior Road Race World Championship and becoming the youngest winner of Tour de Suisse. He won also 2009 Tour de Romandie and Young rider classification in 2011 Giro d'Italia.
In 2012 Kreuziger led Pro Team Astana in Giro d'Italia, but he failed as a leader when he lost in 17th stage to Cortina d´Ampezzo over 11 minutes.
I want to bring them both, Team Saxo-Tinkoff and Roman Kreuziger, back to the top.

Welcome to Team Saxo-Tinkoff, one of the best cycling team in the world! Season 2012 wasn´t successful for our team until Alberto Contador managed to win 2012 Vuelta a España during 17th stage to Fuente Dé. We hope that we will do much better in upcoming season.
Team Saxo-Tinkoff is a professional cycling team from Denmark. On a team roster is for this season twenty nine riders from fourteen countries.
 | Daniele | Bennati | 32 | | Manuele | Boaro | 25 | | Matti | Breschel | 28 | | Jonathan | Cantwell | 31 | | Mads | Christensen | 28 | | Alberto | Contador | 30 | | Timmy | Duggan | 30 | | Jesús | Hernández | 31 | | Jonas Aaen | Jørgensen | 26 | | Christopher | Juul-Jensen | 23 | | Roman | Kreuziger | 26 | | Karsten | Kroon | 37 | | Marko | Kump | 24 | | Anders | Lund | 28 | | Rafal | Majka | 23 | | Jay | McCarthy | 20 | | Takashi | Miyazawa | 35 | | Michael | Mørkøv | 27 | | BenjamÃn | Noval | 34 | | Sérgio | Paulinho | 33 | | Evgeni | Petrov | 34 | | Bruno | Pires | 31 | | Nicolas | Roche | 28 | | Michael | Rogers | 33 | | Chris Anker | Sørensen | 28 | | Nicki | Sørensen | 37 | | Rory | Sutherland | 31 | | Matteo | Tosatto | 38 | | Oliver | Zaugg | 31 |
Alberto Contador
Alberto Contador is one of only fiver riders who have won all three Grand Tours. El Pistolero is considered the best stage racer in the world. After his return in last year August he managed to win Vuelta a España. In 2013, he has the only one goal - to win 100th Tour de France.
Roman Kreuziger
Roman Kreuziger was considered one of the biggest talents after winning 2008 Tour de Suisse at the age of only 22. In 2011, he finished 5th and won Young rider classification in the Giro d'Italia. But a year later he failed in the Italian Grand Tour and finished 15th. In upcoming season he will focus on Ardennes classics, in which he did well in the past.
Michael Rogers
Michael Rogers, who is a three time World Time-Trial Champion, was one of Wiggins´ key domestiques during season 2012. Last year, he finished 2nd overall in Critérium du Dauphiné. Rogers is one of the best time trialist in the world and with decent climbing skill we decided that he will lead our team in Giro d'Italia.
Nicolas Roche
Nicolas Roche is the son of famous Triple Crown winner Stephen Roche. Nico has numerous top ten finishes in Grand Tour stages. This year his main goal is to help Alberto Contador in the Tour de France but he will also receive his chance in some smaller stage races.
Daniele Bennati
Daniele Bennati is an experienced rider who won numerous stages in Grand Tours. In 2012, he finished 10th in Milano – San Remo. We hope that he can improve his result in this race. He will also ride Tour de France where he will make effort to win a stage. |

Australian National Road Race Championship
Season traditionally kicks off in Australia with National Championship. In this year Road race takes place in the south-east part of Australia with start and finish in Buninyong. The course consists of three big and eleven smaller circuits with a climb, which has a maximum slope of 6.7 %.
190 kms to go
At the beginning 8 riders tried to create a margin but the peloton set the high pace and pulled them quickly back. Immediately as the peloton was together, five riders from the original breakaway attacked again.
130 kms to go
Fabio Calabria, Luke Davison, Ben Day, Matthew Lloyd and Mitchell Lovelock-Fay made the margin of more than 8 minutes, so we send Jonathan Cantwell to the front of the peloton to increase the pace.
40 kms to go
Richie Porte and Cameron Meyer tried twice on the main climb attack but they weren´t successful until the third attempt. Jonathan Cantwell and Jay McCarthy worked for Rory Sutherland. With 30 kms to the finish Rory Sutherland attacked while Porte and Meyer joined the front group in the same moment when Day and Lovelock-Fay jumped away.
20 kms to go
Porte and Meyer weren´t able to follow Day and Lovelock-Fay but Sutherland was! On the penultimate climb Sutherland attacked and he managed to increase his margin until the end.
Finish
Rory Sutherland had enought time to celebrate his victory. Ben Day won the sprint for the 2nd place ahead of Mitchell Lovelock-Fay. Other escapees with Porte and Meyer lost 2´31 and the next group led by Matthew Goss 9´28. The peloton finished at +11´07.

Great start! I really like this team so i'll follow your story. Two questions: what do you expect of Sutherland for this season? What are the roles you will give to the two portuguese guys on the team?
Good luck |

@ all: Thank you for your support!
@ kimiopn: Sutherland concentrate on a start of the season so I expect really good results in the first quarter. He will lead our team in TDU. Paulinho will ride Giro+Vuelta and Pires Tour+Vuelta. They will help our leaders but they can receive also their own chance in some stage. Their tasks in other races I don´t know for now. |

Australian National Time Trial Championship
In the state of Victoria continues the Australian Championship with the Individual time trial in Ballarat. The 37 kms long time trial is mostly flat, the road is rising only in the last third with a maximum slope of 3.5%.
Rory Sutherland
Rory Sutherland isn´t a first-class time trialist, but Australian National Championship reached him in the best form of all. For a long time no one could beat his time 53´33. Last year´s winner Luke Durbridge lost to Sutherland 18 seconds and Cadel Evans even one more second.
Cameron Meyer
Only three riders were on the course - Richie Porte, Cameron Meyer and Michael Rogers. Richie Porte set the new best time, 52´44. But Cameron Meyer was the fastest at all intermediate times. When he crossed the finish, he went into the lead with a time 52´32.
Michael Rogers
Michael Rogers was the last one who could beat Cameron Meyer. He started slowly and at the intermediate times he was outside of top 10. Rogers accelerated in the last third but it wasn´t enough. Cameron Meyer from Orica-GreenEdge was the strongest. Michael Rogers repeated his result from 2012 and finished third.
Results
| 1 | Cameron Meyer | Orica - GreenEdge | 52'32 | | 2 | Richie Porte | Sky Procycling | + 12 | | 3 | Michael Rogers | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | + 23 | | 4 | Rory Sutherland | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | + 31 | | 5 | Luke Durbridge | Orica - GreenEdge | + 49 | | 6 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | + 50 | | 7 | Stuart O'Grady | Orica - GreenEdge | + 1'01 | | 8 | Rohan Dennis | Garmin - Sharp | + 1'08 | | 9 | Michael Hepburn | Orica - GreenEdge | + 1'10 | | 10 | Jack Bobridge | Blanco Pro Cycling Team | + 1'11 |
Word from directeur sportif
"Michael (Rogers) took a podium and Rory (Sutherland) finished 4th. We are satisfied with the results and I think that we can do some good result in Tour Down Under," commented Philippe Maduit. |
