I'm racing in what is quite a mountainous tour and I'm currently in 6th place, 20 seconds off the leader, who is 20 seconds ahead of everyone in the top 50 and he's a sprinter. The first few stages were pretty flat, but we hit a mountainous stage; and the sprinter/leader easily finishes at the front of the peloton and chases breakaways. This is really unrealistic as sprinters usually struggle in the mountain stages, even my mountain riders can't beat the sprinters. Is this a bug or what?

The PCM AI is a bit strange sometimes. I think a good DB can help a bit, but not always.
So which DB do you have?
Do you simulate the races or 3D?

It's in most tours, he has his team around him but I'd thought they'd have burned out protecting him? And I only got it a couple of days ago so the first one, would the latest DB change it?

So you have the Cyanide DB(The DB that comes with the game?)
I really recommend you to download a good DB. It has real names, more races, real equipment and jerseys, better stats etc. (And probably a bit better AI because of better stats etc.)
I can recommend you the PCMdaily DB.
If you want, you can even have a 2013 DB(With everything that was in the 2012 DB, but including 2013 teams, riders, routes and stats. https://www.pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro...hp?did=902

Yeah the original is pretty bad. I tried downloading the latest official one before a custom one and it said that the setup files were corrupted and therefore it wouldn't work
