In career mode I just finished playing Paris Bruxelles on extreme level, and it was really weird.
First off Floris Goesinnen attacks (FL 70 and Hill 75) are his best stats and rides to a solo victory being in the break for over 200km. He wins with over 4:30 back to the peloton, despite the peloton riding at probable max effort since 70 km to go when the gap was at 6 minutes. I mean ten Danny Pate's wouln't have brough him back.
Also some of my riders ie Cozza (FL72 and fitness 92) were among the first to be dropped when the field probably had loads of riders with lesser stats, given the race. My best finisher was Hutarovich (fitness 88) who was among the favourites and finished 50th but was completly empty with 3km to go, despite staying right at the front. Even Ojelnik with similar stats to Goesinnen beat Cavendish in the sprint!
Don't get me wrong Ive taken quite a few victories in the season ie 3 Giro wins and TTT with Farrar and criterium international w/ Geniez, but extreme level seems to be unrealistically difficult especially when AI riders are in shape.
Is it:
That you have to a rider with 95/96+fitness to even contest the win most of the time?
And can someone explain:
- Why Goesinnen won in such a fashion, if I can change anything in the database to make racing more 'realistic'?
(ps this is in pcm2011 but probs applies to pcm 2012...)
Well, if it was PCM 12, he would have won by 10 minutes. But really, I've always played on extreme and usually I won't let breaks get away like that. Maybe the other team's rider's weren't in enough shape to chase?
Doubt it was a fitness thing. You had ten riders minimum all with better stats chasing him down, going at over 60 km/h on -0.2 gradiant but taking virtually no time away from Goesinnen, putting Hutarovich into 180+ bpm on the slight downhill regulary with 50 km to go.
Guess its just a problem with the game design from time to time, I think something similar happened ages ago when I played it.
Probs a 1/200 chance of happening.
if the ther teams doesn´t collaborate with you on the chase and your teammates aren´t in best shape, then yes sometimes the break stays away and they seem to be superhumans. but not that often though, imo
Thanks, but Ive played this game thousands of times so I know how to chase a break!
Let me reiterate. I'm not talking about a generic gap. If ten fit Cancellera's were chasing Goesinnen from80 km out with a gap of three minutes, they wouldn't have shut the gap!
My guess is its a fault in the programming of the game, happens very very rarely though. That for some reason a single rider gets away early on and can ride at over their max abilities for their the rest of the race without slowing and even go faster than the peloton at max speed.
If you haven't experienced it, you might not understand.
