After losing our main sponsor HTC Corporation at the end of the 2011 season and not finding a replacement for 2012 the team had to disband. A year later and HTC have admitted that it was a mistake and from there started the rebirth of the team along with Highroad sports as co-sponsor.
We will be coming back to the sport the same place we left it, in the World Tour. Throughout the year we will be racing against the following 18 teams:
Ag2r-La Mondiale
Argos-Shimano
Astana
Blanco Pro Cycling
BMC Racing Team
Cannondale
Euskaltel-Euskadi
Garmin-Sharp
Orica-GreenEDGE
Team Katusha
Lampre-Merida
Lotto-Belisol
Movistar Team
Omega Pharma-Quick Step
RadioShack-Leopard
Team Saxo-Tinkoff
Team Sky
Vacansoleil-DCM
Here is this year's team jersey. Can't spot any differences with the 2011 edition? That's because there aren't any! Same sponsors means same jersey, but in no way does that mean same riders. The roster can now be found below.
As well as our two main sponsors, who are both from the US, we are glad to welcome on board all of our other investors:
Columbia Sportswear
Continental
Defeet
Fi'zi:k
Lezyne
MOA
Nike
Oakley
Park Tool
Powerbar
Right to Play
Shimano
Skoda
Specialized
We would like to thank them all for renewing their trust in us as we aim to achieve our goal: Taking back our rightful place as #1 team in the world.

Mark CAVENDISH
One of the most well known faces in peloton thanks to us, it was only right that he came back to where it all begun. When he heard that we were bringing the team back he didn't hesitate for a second before signing up.
In an interview he said it himself: "It sorta feels like coming home, ya'know? I spent five years of my career in this team with pretty much the same people, and it's where I've had my best results. It's like I've been away on holiday for a year, and now I'm back home with my family: Bernie (Eisel), Mark (Renshaw), Lars (Bak), and all the others. It's a brilliant feeling."
Michael ALBASINI
Michael is also a HTC-Highroad veteran after picking up some of the best wins of his career with us between 2009 and 2011. He admitted that those were the years when he felt his happiest and cannot wait to get stuck in.
Jan GHYSELINCK
Being one of our old neo-pros in 2010, we knew that if he was fulfilling his potential on the cobbles than we had no choice but to ask him to come back.
Arnaud DEMARE
After his first season as a neo-pro with the french team FDJ - Big Mat his potential was obvious. The french believe that he will one day become their Cavendish, at this is what he had to say about that: "Cavendish is a big man, I think people think I'm better than what I really am, but I hope that with the help of HTC-Highroad that I can be as good as their expectations one day."
Mark RENSHAW
Cav's wingman is back. They both clearly specified that they wanted to be together if they were to sign on to the team, so we did what was necessary and here it is, the missile is back with his launcher.
Guillaume BOIVIN
Along with Demare, Cav', and Renshaw, Guillaume is one of the best sprinters in the team. We hope he can make his mark this year under our colours.
Levi LEIPHEIMER
At the ripe old age of 39, Levi couldn't say no to joining the American team. Although he will be unavailable until the 1st of March for reasons that are known but that we don't want to discuss.
Alex RASMUSSEN
Alex is also back from the 2011 team, but will also be unavailable until the 1st of April.
Nicolas ROCHE
A good stage racer, and one of the best talents to come out of Ireland, Roche is happy to be on board with us along side our other riders.
Cameron MEYER
Another one of our younger riders, Cameron will be an important asset to the team and is ready to help out when necessary.
Bernhard EISEL
"Will Mark be there?" were his first words when we told him of our plan to bring back the team. We reassured him that he would be, and that we were glad for him to join him.
Bernie will also be one of the key elements in our hunt for the cobbled classics.
Brent BOOKWALTER
Like Levi, Brent couldn't resist the temptation behind joining our team, saying that he will be glad to fulfill any task giving to him.
Lars BAK
Yes, Lars will be Bak on the front ( ) in 2013 to take the team to victory, be it at the tours or at the classics.
Danny PATE
Danny is another rider from the States who has already spent his 2011 year with us and is ready to bring the pain.
Rory SUTHERLAND
Another experienced Aussie to complement our top end range of riders.
Caleb FAIRLY
Fairly was happy to join us for a new season after spending 2011 with us.
Fabian Schnaidt
The 22 year old German rider was eager to sign up for such a big team so early in his career. We hope he develops well.
Luke KEOUGH
Another US rider that has joined us from the UHPC and who is ready to start racing.
Michael CUMING
Another British rider like Cav', he shows some great signs of potential that we would like to encourage.
Ryan EASTMAN
One of our youngest riders, it is Ryan's debut season with the top dogs, but we're sure he can handle it.
Craig LEWIS
Having spent two seasons with us up to our last year, he has now decided to return to race with us.
Luke DAVISON
Our youngest Aussie in the squad, but he is in no way scared by the prospect of racing with the biggest names in cycling, in fact he's pretty excited.
Ian BOSWELL
Highly sought after for the 2013 season, we were able to sign Ian and are ready to train him to his ultimate potential, which for now seems limitless.

@maxime86 I'm writing it up now, shouldn't be too long.
@Ian Butler Thanks. Yes, due to lack of points FDJ were relegated to Continental, but the UCI's decision on Katusha still stands, so there will be 19 teams. |

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Participants:
Mark Renshaw
Cameron Meyer
Rory Sutherland
Luke Davison
This year's road race takes the riders along a 195.5 km route in Buninyong made up of two circuits: a longish flat one with one hill that will be ridden three times and then a shorter one, made up of the hill from the first circuit, that will be ridden eleven times all the way to the finish at the foot of the descent.
This means that it could go either way, with a breakaway taking enough time in the hills to reach the finish, or if teamwork comes in to play maybe a bunch kick. Either way, we have the right riders for all situations.
Individual Time Trial - 10/01/13
The time trial course is a mostly flat 37 km run, which slightly slopes up before a flat run-in to the finish with two intermediate time checks.
We have high hopes for Cameron Meyer, considering he has the best TT skills of our Australian riders, but it will all come down to how they feel on the day and what shape the competition are in. |

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS
Before any racing got under way, the Tour Down Under team (which will soon be announced), which includes our four Australian riders, were in Sydney for a four day training camp. This put our riders in very good form, especially Cameron Meyer. These four riders then parted with the TDU team to travel to Buninyong.
The 58 riders all lined up on start with the common goal of becoming national road race champion.
It was our own Rory Sutherland who made the initial break composed of himself, Lang, Clarke and Wurfe.
They were then joined by Haas, Sulzberger and McCarthy to make the seven man break that would never be seen again.
On the first lap of the final circuit they had a 5 minute lead, and by the third lap, they had gained another 7 minutes. The pack clearly couldn't be bothered to chase. One lap later, the gap was at 15 minutes and the pack was lapped.
Two laps from the finish McCarthy made a break for it, followed by Sutherland and Haas, but they were caught.
That is when Rory decide to try his luck one last time...
...launched the sprint...
...and took the win by 30 seconds over his breakaway companions.
Clarke took second right in front of Haas in the final sprint, with 20 minutes between them and the main bunch.
Hearing of the win, Meyer led out Renshaw...
...who rounded out the top ten.
Unfortunately, Luke Davison retired from the race along with 16 other riders who just couldn't handle the heat.
| 1 | Rory Sutherland | HTC - Highroad | 5h17'46 | | 2 | Jonathan Clarke | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | + 30 | | 3 | Nathan Haas | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | | 4 | Bernard Sulzberger | Drapac Cycling | s.t. | | 5 | Jay McCarthy | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | s.t. | | 6 | Cameron Wurf | Cannondale Pro Cycling | s.t. | | 7 | Richard Lang | Team Raleigh | s.t. | | 8 | Heinrich Haussler | IAM Cycling | + 19'26 | | 9 | David Tanner | Blanco Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | | 10 | Mark Renshaw | HTC - Highroad | s.t. |
Here was Rory's reaction after he crossed the line:
"God, we were all getting a crick in our neck trying to see if the bunch was going to catch us sooner or later, then we caught up with them on the third, or fourth maybe, lap and then we knew that one of us would be national champ'.
I followed McCarthy when he tried to get away at the end, and I knew that the moment we got caught it would be time for me to go again. I think I had the best sprint in the group, but the solo victory was even sweeter. Thanks to the team and everyone."
The nice weather disappeared in Buninyong half way through the ITT, even though the heat stayed. Consequently, all the favorites rode in bad conditions which meant that Sutherland was able to snatch a 5th place after his magnificent performance on the road. He came in 1 minute and 7 seconds behind the winner who was none other than our own Cameron Meyer! He was able to beat Richie Porte and Michael Rogers by 31 seconds, and 51 seconds.
Davison and Renshaw came in at 4'47 and 5'45, which gave them 33rd and 40th place.
| 1 | Cameron Meyer | HTC - Highroad | 43'45" | | 2 | Richie Porte | Sky Procycling | + 31" | | 3 | Michael Rogers | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | +51" | | 4 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | +1'06" | | 5 | Rory Sutherland | HTC - Highroad | +1'07" | | 6 | Michael Mathews | Orica - Greenedge | +1'12" | | 7 | Luke Durbride | Orica - Greenedge | +1'21" | | 8 | Jack Bobridge | Blanco Pro Cycling Team | + 1'37" | | 9 | Michael Hepburn | Orica - Greenedge | +1'38" | | 10 | Baden Cooke | Orica - Greenedge | +1'57" |
Cameron was obviously very happy:
"Yeah, I guess I didn't do much in the road race what with Rory up the road, well done to him, and the team has been working with me all winter to get everything just right.
I was happy to get my 2010 and 2011 title back after Durbo (Luke Durbridge) stole it off me last year."
We would like to congratulate our riders on a job well done, they deserve to wear the national jersey's with pride.
Two races, two wins. Lets see if we can keep it up at the Tour Down Under. |

Very nice. I'd be interested to see your squad stats. I have a sneaking suspicion that it'd be very overpowered Good luck at TDU |

I'm actually pretty surprised, I didn't think the pack wouldn't chase. I should of tried to put Meyer in the break and made it a double.
@fcancellara I don't actually pick the angles, I just keep pausing and unpausing until I get a good shot. I just wish the names wouldn't appear above their heads.
@Piktay3 The stats are the 2013 pcmdaily db stats, no editing or anything. Meyer doesn't even have the best TT stat compared to Porte and Rogers. The surprising thing is I play on Hard, so maybe I'll switch over to extreme if the results seem to be too much. |

Aussie Nat's usually have the weirdest results if you send you team on pre-season fitness. None of the other teams do, you have 20-30% more fitness then everyone else and can smash them to pieces.
So no broken edited needed, nor is it a case of difficulty level. Its just Aussie Nat being early in game before anyone can get fit (other then a player using camps) |
