Equipa Ciclista Onda

Having been founded in 1986 by the Boavista Futebol Club, the team, now sponsored by the Portuguese clothing brand Onda along with it's original sponsor, is one of the oldest in the peloton.
Portugal is known for it's football, but I, José Azevedo, manager of the Equipa Ciclista Onda, want it to be known for it's cycling.
João Cabreira

After coming back from a two year doping ban in 2011 and winning his home country's national championships, João is happy to take up the role as the team's lead climber in the 2012 season.
Bruno Lima

At 26 years of age, Bruno is one of the best young sprinters in the Continental peloton with an impressive acceleration. That is why he shall be the teams main sprinter for this season.

It was an interesting start to the season with Orica-Greenedge's Simon Gerrans winning the Australian Road Race National Champion title and Team Sky's Riche Porte taking the Indvidual Time Trial.
The action continued in Australia with Daniele Pietropolli of Lampre-ISD winning the Santos Tour Down Under with a 13 second lead.
In Argentina it was a shocker as Jure Kocjan of Team Type 1-Sanofi one the Tour de San Luis with 1'44 over Euskatel-Euskadi's Ion Izagirre.
It was our first race of the year at the Grand Prix de La Marseillaise. After the four day pre-season training camp at Le Londe-les-Maures, not far from the race, six riders made the line-up: Bruno Lima, Hélder Oliveira, David Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, Delio Fernández, José Gonçalves, Célio Sousa.
8 kilometers in and the break got away with Peter Kennaugh, Rémy Di Gregorio, Yann Huguet, Daniele Callegarin, Timothy Duggan and Pierre Cazaux. They never got any more than 5 minutes before Omega-Pharma-Quickstep started to chase.
At 50 kilometers to go four riders broke clear for the peloton to join the break after the gap had been reduced to 2 minutes. The riders were Marco Marcato, Grégory Rast, Jérémy Roy and Vincent Jérôme. After that the break was able to maintain about a minute gap all the way to the finish where Marcato easily sealed the sprint.
It was disappointment for our riders, with David Gutiérrez Gutiérrez unsuccessfully trying to make the original breakaway, and Bruno Lima only managing 20th after a messy leadout.
Even though the top 5 goal wasn't satisfied, our sponsor is not displeased by the top 25 result in front of a couple of known names in the cycling world.
From the teams point of view, things can only get better.

I'm sorry to disappoint people that were looking forward to this, but I have changed my mind about what sort of team I would like to write my story about. I rushed into this one and am not getting as much enjoyment out of playing it than I will with the story to come. I'm sure people will find it a lot more entertaining as well.
If the people that have posted support (thank you for it ) could delete their posts, it would avoid creating a new thread. |

Too bad, but good that you realize this now
I don't see the harm in a new thread, though if you really want to, I guess I could delete this and the previous post.. |

Ok, I didn't want to clutter the forum, but I guess the thread will get pushed down pretty fasted.
Thanks for understanding. |
