I haven`t gotten onto career mode yet (still learing the game when R/L permits),but am up to stage 6 in the T de F.
After we`ve gone through an Intermidiate Sprint for points,the top 3 Sprinters goes through in the top LH corner of the screen and the Provisional Rankings come up for a few seconds on the RH side of the screen,but when I "space bar" and go to sprints, no riders are shown against the alloted points they should have got.
At the end of the race the points are added and the new cumalitive totals are obviously added as the new points leader is seen on the podium.
Is this an error,am I not doing something,or is it because I`m not in career mode?

It doesnt update the standings during the stage.
It only shows provisional rankings for moment as you described.
So everything is normal
Yes, and after the sprint is gone, the results will appear there. But the sprint classification indeed only gets updated through the "provisional ranking" boxes that appears at the top of the corner for a few secs.

See that`s the problem ,because that doesn`t happen, the results don`t appear there after the sprint has gone.
Are you sure about that? We're talking about the Spacebar->Sprints, and not about the Spacebar->Standings
So at the sprints tab, you should click on the intermediate sprint you want to see(can also be KoM sprint) and then you have the results of that sprint. You can't see the provisional standings in the 3d race, except for a few seconds after the intermediate sprint was finished.
Oh, and another thing, some of the smaller races(I don't mean TDF etc, just some 2.2 and 2.1 races) are fake, and you can't click on the intermediate sprints at spacebar->sprints then...
