I just started playing this game and an hooked. But a few things I am both shocked/unaware happen. As well as not knowing how to train riders to increase stats.
I picked Astana due to Contador. Dont like him, but figured he would get me some good placings. And he did just that, along with Vino. However, I was unaware if you dont meet "X" of the goals...you get fired. I do detailed sim for the most part, as I am trying to figure out areas to attack, hold back and such. So here are the questions I have.
1-How many goals must you meet in order not to be fired? I won the TDF, thought that being a goal would be enough. I reached 3 of the 6 goals, as Contador and Vino where in no shape to place top 10 after the TDF in the Vaulta. But, winning the TDF wasnt enough, and I got canned after a 21st finish in the Vaulta.
2- How do you build stats? Contador as an example has good exceleration...and 2 stars to make it even better. But in a full year, he never gained a single point in that stat. I sent him and/or the whole team on climbing camps, cobbles and TT. So Im guessing thats not how to increase stats?
3- I know I went over budget, on accident building a team for 2011. Due to singing a near "Dream Team"...before I got the notice I was fired. What is the best way to sign riders like Basso(example) and other big names, but stay in budget? I went over due to 2 things. 1, I accidently gave 2 riders new deals and forgot I had(oops) and 2, when some top riders played hard ball...I went for other riders. Only to find out a day or so later...they took my deal even after the counter offer emails not being replied to.
Thats pretty much it, but any help is very welcome. Once I get this sorted out, I can move to mastering the 3D race. THANK YOU in advance for any advice or tips!
Oh, can you change the jersey colors in MS Paint? I know you can with photoshop. By even with step by step instructions...my photoshop skills arent very good at all. I know with the SIMS you can do recolors with Paint.
1. If I remember correctly, sponsor goals and the whole management part is for nothing. You will never be fired unless you are in debt. What does "canned" mean?
2. Training will increase stats. Set an appropriate training and assign a good trainer. Training camps are considered doping because it is temporary boost and AI does not use it.
3. It is easy, just don't sign contracts with everybody at the same time.
4. I doubt that paint can even open the jersey files. But why do you want to do that in the first place. It looks like shit if you have no skills.

FORGOT to mention in my OP. Got the game from a friend who had lost everything but the CD and registation code. So Im playing by watching videos, reading posts and trial an error.
