Adam Hansen in the Australian National Championships - 10/1/12
Adam Hansen was present in his national championships representing Lotto-Belisol. THe Ozzie managed a respectable 12th place on the day. There were many attacks and it was a break away finish. He was the last man ahead of the peleton after making a late move
I had my hopes up but my fitness wasn't great. I guess 12 place was on OK result in that respect
1st David Tanner (Saxo Bank)
2nd Nathan Haas (Garmin) st.
3rd Hilton Clarke ( United Healthcare) +41
4th Michael Mathews (Rabobank) st.
5th Richard Long (Rapha Condor Sharp) st.
12th Adam Hansen (Lotto Belisol) +2m17s
(There was no replay footage so no screenshots for this race)

Tour Down Under Stages 1 - 17/01
Stage 1 - Greipel's Great Start
Stage 1 of the Tour down under was a flat affair with one catergory 3 climb. Most likely it will be a fat affair. The attacks came thick and fast until a group of 4 finally managed to get a gap and establish themselves as the day's break. Geoffrey Soup (FDJ), Luke Roberts (Saxo), Mauro Da Dalto (Liquigas) and Gert Steegmans (Omega) were the four men who were battling it out at the front. The climb was a mad dash as Luke Roberts took the lead over the top and the mountains classification. The pace behind was hotting up as the sprinters' teams were putting the hammer down on the front of the peleton. It was near the end with about 10km left when they were eventually caught. Then there was the case of the mass sprint. Garmin and Greenedge were on the front and it was the Garmin rider Hassez who launched it. But round the inside Andre Greipel burst through to take the win.
Here is the days racing in pictures:

The Bunch looms on Roberts and his companions

Sulzberger Leads the group as they catch the break

Greipel Edges out Keukeleire for the win
Stage and Overall
1st Andre Greipel (Lotto Belisol)
2nd Jens Keukeleire (GreenEDGE) st.
3rd Nathan Haas (Garmin) st.
Mountain: Luke Roberts (Saxo Bank)
Sprint: Geoffrey Souppe (FDJ-Bigmat)
U25: Jens Keukeleire (GreenEDGE)

Tour Down Under Stage 2 - 18/01
Stage 2 -
The route may be called flat but nearing the end it kicks up alot so lots of action is expected. Another 4 man break today. Yaroslav Popovich (Radioshack) took the 2nd cat climb ahead of Team Sky's Michael Barry and Kristjan Koren of Liguigas. Bert Grabsch the German was the other man in there for Omega Pharma Quick Step. Nearing the end the attacks were really coming with another 4 man group going off including Sorensen and Westra. Our man Meersman spent a little bit of time ahead of the pak but it was short lived and he was overhauled.
With 5km left all systems are go and people are on and off the front but in the end Pavel Brutt and Clarke are ahead with 1km left when the sprint is launched but and awesome sprint from the BMC rider Mauro Santambrogio who goes flying past to take the win.
The day's racing in Pictures:

Close sprint for the KOM

Meersman Goes it alone

Santambrogio bursts through for the win.

Good win with Greipel in first stage. Let's hope he can make that double or triple and take a jersey home! |

Nice to have a Lotto-belisol story!
Can I ask you something? Are you a League of Legends player? Because of the name Mordekaiser?
