Time for the next Ardennes Classic. The Fleche Wallone longer climbs than Fleche Wallone including the famous Mur de Huy, which often decides over the win.
Due to the longer hills it`s a better race for the climbers than Amstel Gold Race and Liege-Bastogne-Liege but still a puncheurs classic.
Again Cunego is missing. So he won`t be able to defend his triumph from last year.
The home crowd is surely cheering for their two Belgium stars:
Jan Bakelants, who finished the Amstel just behind
Phillipe Gilbert.
After their strong Amstel performance the Belgiums really want to see one of them celebrating on the Mur, too.
But not to forget Schleck, who is always a favourite in these classics as he combines great puncheur and climbing skills plus his anger about the first classic.
Surely you mustn`t forget former winner Ricco, who wants his 2nd win after 2010. He showed good form for the Ardennes so far.
Trofimov is also a great bet. His ability to sprint very quick on hard terrain gives him a small advantage to some other riders.
Gesink
and
Spilak must be named looking at the more mountainous profile, which gives them an advantage ahead of the pure climbers such as the Festina duo
Pozzato & Ulissi, who must be motivated to improve after a disappointed Amstel Gold Race.
Also all the other puncheurs like Schumacher, Ponzi, Sinkewitz, Hagen, Efimkin or Van Garderen will look for their chances.
Kashechkin and Rodriguez might be good for another strong performance while wildcard team Focus participates with all their stars around Roy, Sicard and the Feillu brothers.

This is my win goal for the season I think. I can't expect too much after such a good string of results but if Phillipe did win...

This is a targeted race for Pearl Adidas (as was AGR) so Bakelants needs to step up to the plate as he did in the last race.
A top-5 and I'm a happy camper.

Top 10 is a MUST here, after the collapse in the best hilly race for us in the mid season.

Only Cunego beat Gesink here last year. But after that 11th place in AGR, a top 10 would be enough.

I feared a midway break was going to make it sooner or later again. I'm happy wiith the 5th place, but when keeping the scenario in the back of my head, i'm actually rather disappointed. Still can't help but think that these mid race breaks are to hard to catch.

I never really expected to achieve the win goal but I might have hoped for better than that ... still happy though. Good reporting - Mangame's starting to build up a good head of steam.

I can't be expected to be happy with these results. I demand a re-run until Ponzi wins and Cataldo comes 2nd.
