how to add route/checkpoint??

Hi. Im trying to make a stage on pcm stage editor 2011.
I have added roads and terrain, but when i`m going to add route or checkpoints it wont do that. I click on the button "add checkpoint" but when i then right click on the circles on the road, the button jumps up to "add road"
I have been searching and google many pages to try and find out what im doing wrong without luck! I hope someone can help me with my problem please ??

You must click with the right mousepad.
