Note: Because my self made team (ferrari team) in my self made db is a replacement of unibet, you’ll see ferrari jerseys, those are actually the unibet team. Sorry about this.

Absolute leaders:
Felix Cardenas
Kanstantsin Siutsou
Pedro Arreitunandia
Protected riders:
Robert Hunter
Ryan Cox
Fabrizio Guidi
Luxury team mates:
John-Lee Augusteyn
Mauricio Soler
Alexander Efimkin
Giosue Bonomi
Giampaola Cheula
Enrico Degano
Young rider:
Geraint Thomas
Team mates:
James Lewis Perry
Hugo Sabido
Paolo Longo Borghini
Diego Caccia
After a 5 days long training camp that only cost €5.525 for all riders, everybody was prepared for the Tour Of Australia. This tour would be a good test to see the quality of Barloworld’s riders. After the Tour Of Australia Barloworld will try to win the Tour Of Qatar.

Today all team manager’s have announced their team’s for the Tour Of Australia. Today, we’re going to take a look at barloworld’s team. The manager Isamu Katashi selected 8 riders. These riders are selected: Hunter, Guidi, Degano, Bonomi, Soler, Thomas, Efimkin and Cheula.
He definitely choose a team for the sprint with Hunter, Guidi, Degano, Bonomi and youngster Geraint Thomas. He also added some hill riders like Soler, Efimkin and Cheula for the 5th stage. Its a good team. I expect them to be one of the better Continental League teams in this Tour.
With strong Pro Tour riders like Hushovd and cancellara, the Tour Of Australia won’t be easy. But manager Isamu Katashi still had much faith in his team. “Off course it won’t be easy to show good results with all those great riders. But I think Hunter might fight for the green jersey since he’s in good condition.” The question is, will Hunter be a threat to people like Hushovd or not? We’ll see it later.

Today the first stage of the Tour Of Austalia will be rode. It’s a short and flat stage. It will probably end in a mass sprint. Will one of the favourites like Thor Hushovd win this stage? Or will the stage be won by one of the sub-favourites like Hunter?

Cortinovis attacks but Geraint Thomas and 3 other riders are coming closer.
On 39km from the finish line, Cortinovis attacks. 9 seconds after him, the counterattack from 4 riders, leaded by Geraint Thomas from Barloworld, comes closer.
After a 1 man fall in the pack, Geraint Thomas and De Haes, who couldn’t follow the rest of the breakaway were reared in by the peleton. With the peleton, riding that fast, theres no doubt that this stage will be a mass sprint.
Only 22km to go when Roberts from team CSC attacks and is on his way to join the breakaway, even though they have less then 1 min left on the peleton.
While the sprint is being prepared by the sprinter teams, there’s a fall of 5 riders, including Nico Mattan and one of his teammates.

Degano brings Guidi and Hunter to the front, their in perfect position to win the mass sprint.

Hunter wins and favorite Hushovd is 4th.
A great victory for Hunter from Barloworld. Thanks to the good work of his team mate Guidi and Degano, he managed to keep Goss, Clirke and Hushovd behind him.

An exclusive interview with Barloworld's manager Isamu Katashi about the stage win, the green and yellow jersey and Geraint Thomas.
Interview:
Interviewer(I): Hi Isamu Katashi. Today your team managed to get a great victory. And unlike the former Barloworld tactic, you used 2 of you sprinters to let another sprinter win. Why?
Isamu Katashi(I K): Well, I knew that was my only option. On the original way I couldn’t win against the strong PT sprinters. They also didn’t expected it. And it worked! It was a great victory.
I: I agree, will you try to protect your green our yellow jersey? Or will you just try to win races without looking at that jersey.
I K: We won’t go for yellow. Or at least not with Hunter. But with Hushovd, our major competitor, who was only 4th we will defend the green jersey for sure.
I: Can you explain what you meant with ‘at least not with Hunter.’?
I K: The 5th stage is the problem. I think a group might survive it there to the finish. And Hunter isn’t the guy for on the hills. But some of our hill riders can maybe win that stage and you never know if that can be enough to get the yellow jersey, but it won’t be our priority.
I: Ok, and finally, Geraint Thomas had to give up because he came in to late. Are you dissapointed in him?
I K: Disappointed? No, I’m not. Thomas is a great rider. I told him to attack today because I wanted to see his qualities as attacker. Off course I know he’s a sprinter but he’s a young guy and he can become an even greater rider if he practices in all aspects of cycling, so also attacking. I’m sure he did his best so I’m not dissapointed.
I: Good, I wish you much luck with your green and maybe yellow jersey.
I K: Thanks, bye.

I have to ask, why start a Barloworld story when we already have one? Are they your favourite team or something?

Today’s stage is quite flat with some hills. Will Hunter win again like in the first stage? Or will he be to tired to win and loose his green or yellow jersey to Hushovd?

Only 2 km after the start of the race, there is a breakaway. Cheula, Lupthorne and Ingels are in the leading group, followd by a group of 2 riders containing Grabsh and Miuris. But the leading group only has 40 seconds on the peleton. Will they make it to the mountain?

With only 2km to go to the first mountain in the Tour Of Australia, the breakaway is reared in.
When the group is reared in there are several attacks from riders who want to get the mountain jersey.

José Luis Arrièta wins the mountain sprint in front of Leukemans and Halgand.
Still 100km to go and a new breakaway, consisting of Mclochlan, Roberts, Lancaster, Gates, Mondory and Vanderaerden, rides 2 minutes away from the peleton.
With 90km to go to the finish line, the gap is still 5 minutes. If the peleton won’t react, the group will survive it to the finish.
With less then 80 km to go, the gap is larger then 7 minutes and Barloworld puts some riders in front of the peleton, hoping the other teams will help.

Nick Gates wins the intermediate sprint, followed by Luke Roberts and Gert Vanderaerden.
When the intermediate sprint is over, the gap is still 6 minutes, but the peleton is getting closer. After the hill the difference is only 3 minutes so the stage will end up in the second mass sprint.

Luke Roberts wins this intermediate sprint, the second place goes to Cmlochlan and Lancaster is 3th.
After several riders couldn’t follow the breakaway, the 4 remaining riders sprint in the second intermediate sprint. Luke Roberts wins this sprint, the second place goes to Cmlochlan and Lancaster is 3th. The 4th rider in the breakaway is Mondory.
The breakaway is back on level terms with the peleton 25km before the finish. The teams are organizing themselves and looking which riders are still fit enough to win the upcoming mass sprint.

Hunter wins another stage in the sprint!
The sprint is on! Hunter seems to end up 3th until he gives all he has 1km before the finish. He sprints past the other sprinters and is the deserved winner.

Today’s stage has quite some hills. Will a breakaway win this stage. Or will there be another mass sprint? If so, will the sprinter be in good enough form after all those hills?

Nick gates wins the intermediate sprint
In the leading group containing 7 riders, Nick Gates wins the intermediate sprint before Ciara Piwer and Brett Lancaster. They have more then 4 minutes on the peleton with 103km left.

60km to the finish line and the breakaway has 5 minutes on the peleton.

Roberts wins another intermediate sprint
On 33km from the finish line, the breakaway is finally reared in. Today’s stage will end up in another mass sprint. It will be a difficult sprint since the sprinters are already tired from the many hills during the stage.
All sprinters are preparing the sprint. Cheula leads Hunter to the 10th position, but after this Hunter is alone. All his teammates are to tired to help him. On 5km from the finish, Hunter is in 2nd position with Hushovd in his wheel. It will be a difficult sprint to keep Hushovd behind him. Will he win or not?

Another sprint victory by Hunter.

Interview:
Interviewer(I): Robert Hunter, you came to quick alone and in 2nd position, and still you won?
Hunter(H): Yeach, I had a good day, I had good legs. I knew I could win. I didn’t felt tired on the hills, but that was also thanks to Cheula who was protecting me.
I: Thats right, but it was still very impressive. Top favourite Hushovd was in youre wheel. How did you managed to keep him behind you?
H: Hushovd is a great sprinter, but he isn’t in a good form yet. And I am. I just had to ride as fast as he was and on 1km from the finish line I went all out just when he tried to get out of my wheel.
I: Ok, and last question. Will you try to keep the yellow jersey?
H: Thats something me and the manager will have to talk about. But it is possible that I’ll try to take the yellow jersey. Since I already have 1minute on most of the climbers...
I: But I guess we’ll have to wait until the 5th stage to know what you will do. Bye Hunter, and much luck.
H: Thanks, bye. |

After being away because I was busy and had to use all my time I was on here to manage my team from the continental management game. I don't think I'll go on with the story but here is what happend in the races I didn't wrote a report on.
What happen in the time I skipped:
Tour Of Australia, stage 4: A typical stage, an early breakaway was reared in on 30km from the finish. It was a mass sprint and Hunter won again.
Tour Of Australia, stage 5: The hilly race feared by all sprinter who want to try and get/keep the yellow jersey. An early breakaway was reared in just before the big hill. As expected the favorites attacked on the hill and Rigotto won. From Barloworld: Cheula was 6th, Sabido was 21st and Hunter was 22st. As expected Hunter lost his yellow jersey.
Tour Of Australia, stage 6: Just like the 4th race it ended up in a mass sprint. But when everybody was thinking "Hunter will win again", there was a mass crash in the front of the pack. Several riders from Barloworld who were preparing Hunter's sprint were on the ground, but Hunter the green jersey also was on the ground. The stage was won by Hushovd and Degano (who didn't fall) became 2nd. But then the terrible news came in... Hunter couldn't get up anymore. He was seriously injured on 5km from the finish. He had to give up and so he lost 2 jerseys in the last 2 days of the Tour Of Australia. He is also out until the end of February.
Tour Of Qatar: The first race went well when Barloworld ended 2nd in the TTT. After that stage, the dreams of winning the Tour Of Qatar were over quickly... Barloworld couldn't dominate the sprints without Hunter and replacement Guidi who wasn't in good form didn't managed to win a single stage. Roy Sentjes won this tour.
Coppa Costa Degli Etruschi: In this race Barloworld did quite well in the sprint without Hunter. Sentjes won again, Sacchi was 2nd and Guidi 3th. Barloworld had 3 top 10 places with Gerraint Thomas who was 8st and Degano who was 9th.
again, I won't go on with this story.
