Where will I see the difference in the in game effects of different mountain ratings?
For example we have to riders one with 77 MT skill and one with 75 MT skill. Will the 77 rider be better in every portion of a race where the db has designated it is mountains? Or are the mountain portions of the race assigned differently by grade?
Then a 75 or 77 rider would perform identically until the grade reached 10% or more. At 10% or higher the 77 would out perform the 75.
Am I think the game engine is more sophiticated that it realy is?
Is every mountain the same and a 77 will rider better no matter what the gradient is?
Thanks. |

It depends on the mountain/hill coefficient of the stage. A guy with 77MO will always be better than a 75MO if the stage is classified as pure mountain (1 in MO/HIL coeff.).
That coefficient works like this:
0-> The only stat that matters in ALL climbs of the stage is HIL
0.2->0.2*MO+0.8*HIL
0.5->0.5*MO+0.5*HIL and so on
1-> only MO matters in all the climbs
I hope this was clear enough.

Good thread about this actually.
But where are those coeff. seen?
DB or in the game somehow (by looking at the climbs % etc) |

It's in the DB (STA_stage, gene_f_mountain). |

Thanks Guys.
Now a couple of follow up questions.
1. What is a good editor to review these coefficients in the stages?
2. What are the different coefficients (db elements) that impact the riders?
3. How many different terrain changes will be documented in a stage?
Thanks |

1. All editors are equal if you only want to look at the stages (and they can be found in the download section to the left)
2. There is a Mountain/Hill factor and a Uphill-Sprint factor.
3. Each stage has one of these two. MO/HI applies to all climbs in the stage, Sprint-Factor only to the last sprint. |

I checked out the database and get a bit confused. Vueltta ciclista Pais Vasco stage 5 are apparently not flat if you check the stage ingame, and it got 6 minor mountains. But when i check the stage in the editor it has 0 in the "gene_f_mountain" table. So my question is, wich stat are important? Arent the mountain and hill stat important, or is it a mistake by Cyanide, or is there something that i missed or dont understand? |

I just checked the stage, and those are not mountains - it's hills. Therefore, the ratio should be 0.
Alto de Urkiola can be classified as a mountain, but since it's in the beginning of the stage, it would be weird to classify all other hills in the stage as mountain (which you would if you had set the ratio to 1). |

Oki, thanks. But where in the db can you se the difference betwen hill and flat, as you can se difference between the mou/hill? I mean as described in this thread:
That coefficient works like this:
0-> The only stat that matters in ALL climbs of the stage is HIL
0.2->0.2*MO+0.8*HIL
0.5->0.5*MO+0.5*HIL and so on
1-> only MO matters in all the climbs
Are there no coefficient betwen hill/flat?

No. When you're on flat parts, the FL stat is used. When you're on a hill/mountain, the hill/mountain ratio decides what stat (of HI and MO) is used. |

Interseting thread
Is the FL stat used when it's only like a 2% climb? Or 0.5%?
Thanks in advance |

Thank you for the answers. Another question. If i check the stages in the editor there something that says "gene_f_upphillsprint" It can be like 0.6999. I guess you use 0.699 of the riders mountainstat then? Or is it the hillstat that counts 0.699? And are no sprintstat at all used when there is an uphillsprint? |

I think that that is refering to the type of rider that competes in the event, for example depending on number climbers would be attracted etc. |

No, dont think so, its more some numbers of wich skill is used in that uphillsprintfinnish. I guess. But i dont know if its 0.699 of the mountain stat, or if its the the hill stat, and if 0.699 is the mountainstat used, which is the rest, because i guess it goes up to 1.0. |

I think it has been explained before: Normally the sprint stats are used for the final sprint. But if it is an ascending sprint, then this factor comes into play. The higher this factor, the less does the sprint stat count. If I remember right, the other stat would be the hill stats. |

Now let me speak about our MO skills ^)As usual a play at extreme level, but I've found real problems in PCM 2011. In previous versions I've won like ALL I could, but this time game mode looks very different in comparison with PCMs 2008-2010. Did uoy find the same? and what your ideas of tactics? cause now a can't attck twice, have huge troubles with red bar and with getting higher to the front of the peloton. so any ideas plis.. |
