Well the Farum Cats showed the way for the Geelong Cats with an amazing Grand final win against the always hard fighting Port Malmö Maulers in the DAFL. The Grand Final being played 2 months earlier than usual due to the upcoming international cup stood between the home-and-away winners from Farum and the Port Malmö, who'd beaten defending premiers North Copenhagen Barracudas in the semi. After a tie in the first quarter (9-9), before Cats took of with four goals by Norlander to a 42-9 lead at half time. The Maulers fought back in the third, but only managed to tie the quarter 1 goal a piece, so the team went out to the final term with a score of (48-15). The final result was 58-23, and thus Farum claimed their fifth premiership, and first since the 05-07 dominance. (And of course it was the one year I did not play because I'm in Australia)
So the Cats needs to follow the example of their Danish sister club against the Lions today, both to stop their 2 game losing streak, but also to prevent the total domination of Queensland in this round 17 after Gold Coast upset everyone with a win against Richmond in Cairns on Saturday!
Go CATS!
Well there's 8 clubs in Denmark, though the three in Jutland field a united team in the DAFL, and 2 of the clubs in Copenhagen only field 9'aside teams. So there's 4 Danish teams in the DAFL (the almighty Farum Cats, the North Copenhagen Barracudas, the Jutland Shinboners and the Copenhagen Crocs). And we are joined by 2 teams from southern Sweden (Helsingborg Saints and Port Malmö Maulers). Both Denmark and Sweden are participating in the upcoming (August) International Cup in Melbourne and Sydney, which is why I'm in Australia training at the moment. Watch out for that number 21 from Denmark!
