I'm expecting this to become the most popular thread, but don't let that hold you back

Only complaint I can think of (besides the steal rule ;-) ) is that perhaps your a bit too demanding of the formal side. Locking threads for being posted wrong, when you guys could just have easily changed the header...I realize this is to make us do it right, but hey, it is after all a game, not school!
I also found it highly irritating that when I put "blocked" in an earlier thread, It got revoked because I didnt put a figure in. No need to be to much of a formal rules nazi - A reminder to put it in, would have sufficed.
secondly I rather think you shouldn't be playing in the game. Its really a mess waiting to happen, when the referees are playing the game as well. I think you are doing nicely at the moment, but controlling several teams, in such a chaotic game is a problem waiting to happen. (although I fully understand you run this game for the benifit of yourself as well, and this is not an issue yet - just something you need to stay very alert to...)
thirdly, as I think you know, the economics of this first transfer season is screwed up. But with the rules in place, I think it should even out in a couple of seasons...

Being a bit too demanding on the formal side is a necessary evil - as me and SN are the only one's who can edit stuff, we've got around 400 posts to monitor and make sure everyone is following the rules, edit etc, which makes it easier if its done right first.
Second, the misspelling is definitely something that has to be there - if you can't spell, oh dear anyway, but then searching for threads doesn't work properly.
Third, the reason why you can't just write blocked. You could have offered the rider absolutely anything. I could put in a free agent bid that I've offered him money - how can we know what unless you write there (sorry about the attacking tone of that, but I can't be bothered to change. I'm lazy. Sorry)
If I wasn't playing it, there wouldn't be a game.
Finally, I'll agree 100% with you - I really didn't take the time to get them right. Sorry

Well, my heart isnt really in complaing about this game, since I fully realise you are doing it for the sheer fun of it, and I MUST commend you in having made better rules for this than I expected. Except for the Steal Rule of course (on which I have a vendatta )
I just kind of thought that since you have a complaints thread, someone really should complain just a little ;-)

Ive just got a general complaint to people who bid on riders they don't want to have. Its annoying having to pay extra for riders when you were the only one that wanted him.

I think thats the nature of this game. If you get a rider to cheaply, you have more money to steal one of my riders with, or to outbid me elsewhere.
but it sure is annoying, and this open bid method defo has its drawbacks...

And with erroneous bidding: I've bid on riders who I initially wanted very much. But when other riders opened up or I decided to shift my focus, I ended up abandoning earlier bids.
And this, to me, is why it would be nice to be able to withdraw bids. |

Withdrawing bids is a big nono for me. Sure It would be handy but it would be abused.

It's true, it would probably be abused. Perhaps, and I realize this would be an administrative nightmare, folks could be limited to two withdraws or something.
Anyway, mostly the reason I'm overbid is because I didn't realize when the transfer period was starting and didn't get a chance to carefully plan out my strategy. I'm sure it will be different next time around.

I would like to state again that I hate the steal rule.
I hate it because it feels personal, and it is easy to take offense.
AS case evidence no. 1. I show you the Kirchen deal. Sporting in a sense forced me to either pay through the teeth for Kirchen or trade for him with his bids.
I couldn't really ask him to trade (which I did anyway btw) for the fear that he might just up the bid even more.
This has now happened for me with both Alex Rasmussen (which I wanted to steal) and iun the Petacchi-Menchov deal!
I think we should scrap it next season, and just do a straight transfer system, where he could have bd the same amount of money, and I would have accepted in a heartbeat!

No - steals are more true to real life, they just need a bit of work

gthe problem with steals this season is the fact that there is way too much money in the game, makin existing slaries ridiculous.
this will change next season as more people will have spent their budget on resignings ( I already foresee the nightmare that is resigning ie. Schumacher to his giga salary!)

On another completely other note, I'd like to complain about the startlist thingie. It works great, and it doesn't take forever to make them. But if you don't send in a startlist for a race, it means that no race days are counted for the riders of your team - meaning that you could exploit the system by on purpose not send in the startlist if you don't want to participate in the race.
Hope you understand. It's a bit difficult to explain. |

I do understand, yes CrueTrue - this season, we'll make sure you send in start lists for every race
