Riders falling while climbing

Has anyone else noticed a bizzare amount of falls taking place whilst riders are going UP a mountain? I think more then half of the falls that take place in my game happens when riders are climbing up a mountain in the rain.

The only explanation I have is that the climb is so hard they can't even go fast enough to stay upright!

I think I've never seen a rider falling while climbing in PCM 2010.
