Using custom team graphics

I've recently created a custom team with which I want to play a career. I wanted to add custom shirts etc for it and chose the c00 jersey as the one my team uses. Then I copied my own shirt over the c00 jersey and hoped that it would show up in game. It didn't. For some reason I'm getting the Quickstep jersey which is kind of weird to me. Am I doing something wrong here and if so, what?

Make sure that the file is correctly named (c00_maillot.tga) and has the correct file size (556 KB). If the file size is wrong, open the file and make sure to save it as a 32-bit TGA file.

But I am correct in assuming that I need to overwrite the stuff in the c00 directory when I create a custom team through the ingame interface?
