Sorry if this has already been answered, but I searched this forum for Sprint Train and didn't find the answer I was looking for!
BTW: it took some time to find the search facility hidden away at the bottom of the main board! No doubt you're all used to it, but it would be easier if it were at the top, especially as it's only on the main forum page, not on each board. Hope you won't take offence at the suggestion.
To my Question:
How do you create a Sprint Train? I realise that the 3D slows to a crawl for the final 5K, but reading some of the stories (very interesting), some of you seem to create your trains 7+K from the final line AND you get a lot of riders in it. I'm lucky if I can get a sprinter to get onto the wheel of another rider, let alone create a train of my own.
ATM, I have a small new team, and don't have any outstanding sprinters apart from Edvald B H, but I do have one rider who could lead him out, and I'm at a loss on how to do that.
My experience is that it is much more difficult in Pcm10 - the sprinters just come forward en masse and you are better off following the right wheel.
It is possible in the good old fashioned way, I sometimes use three or four riders adds to the realism. Start with a good 'rouler' high flat value for Boessen Hagan someone like Matthew Haymen say (if you play with Sky), then place a reasonable flat guy who can sprint a bit like G. Thomas and final lead out Henderson or Sutton and then unleash the Bo Hagen.
So you start with Haymen, have Thomas follow him, then Hend or Sutton follow Thomas and the Bo Hagen follow Hendy/Sutton. Whack Haymen on the 'dot 99' or sometimes even infinite pace will do when he starts to get tired do the same with Thomas. Try to get him into the sprint zone and then when he tires Hendy/Sutton and then finally Bo Hagen.
It works a charm in pcm09 - if your riders are fit enough, less so in pcm 10 but still effective and very satisfying when it comes off.
Well, first of all you need a rider who´s good in flat terrain. He should have around 75 or something like that. If it´s better than 75 he will be a better lead out man. Ok when you want to have a 3 man train you put him on the dot and 99% when the last 8-9 kilometres begin. Then you take the second best sprinter( your final leadout man for your sprint captain) and follow your first leadout man with 60-70%. And then you take your best sprinter and follow your final leadout man with 60-70%. Hope you understand it
Im playing with Katusha at the minute, I tend to set up my train for Poalini at the 7km point with first Pozzato then Galimzyanov, then Poalini, ive had success with it so far in the Tirreno Adriatico but my roulers are low for Poalini as the team is built around Joaquim Rodriguez.
Batista you done a story with Katusha on PCM09, could ou help me out abit, I plan on having Joaquim Rodriguez as my GC contender for TDF and Vuelta but are Valjavec, Efimkim and Knees strong enough for the Giro and a possible top 10 placing. Im unsure on how to set about using my other classic riders like Ivanov and Kolobnev.

Well, I had a 09 db and I think Rodriguez and Kolobnev weren´t at Katusha to this point. But I think you should send Rodriguez to the Tour and to Spain. Ivanov and Kolobnev should be the captains for April as Rodriguez would be too exhausted in the end of the season. Valjavec, Efimkim and Knees might be to weak for a great overall position at the Giro but a Top 15 or maybe Top 10 could be possible But that´s only my opinion...
@ CrueTrue
Sorry I didn't spot search in the left Nav bar, I was looking for a search box, rather than a link!
WoW! That first link is a wall of text. Going to take me some time to digest all that, but at first glance it's just what I am looking for - Thanks!
@Smowz, Batista15 & Ste117:
Thanks, it seems clearer now, but I am unlikely atm to be able put a train in motion due to the lack of riders with decent flat speed!
I should perhaps have mentioned that I am starting a new career on the Continenal Tour. Obviously, my budget is limited and so is my team atm.
Going to restart and see if I can get beyond March 1st this time. I've learnt a lot over the past few days and hope that this time will be a bit better. If not, I am going to try and at least complete a season and see if I get better sponsors for year 2!
Just another advice for the leadout-man. If you don't have a good second sprinter in your squad, you also can take a good climber, normally there acceleration stat is also very high. Through my experiences the acceleration stat is more important than the flat stat or the sprint stat for this rider...
Also as I haven`t seen it here so far.
Sprint trains doesn`t work with the newest patch 1.0.4.2.
You need 1.0.4.1 for single player. To avoid the auto updater, you should always open the PCM.exe in the game folder instead of the autorun created on the desktop.
Damn! Does that mean I'll have to re-install and repatch?
I must have misread, I thought it was only on breakaways that the following sprinters couldn't pass the rider who attacked first.

No 1.0.4.1 from 1.0.0.0 is enough. Then just copy the DB`s local.cdb in Mydocs again and it will work.
In the newest patch all sprints suck, no matter what situation.
Sprints dont work as well. But fortunately you dont have to reinstall, you just install patch 1.0.4.1 and it will 'remove' newest patch, and sprints will work normally.
