just a few questions.....
1a1n
Ive just started a new career with HTC Col, and wanted to just ask a few questions Smile soo firstly When im starting a race and selecting my riders, should i just trust the ai and use the 8 or so selected allready for ne? as i dont know which races certain riders need to be in to peak for the bigger events. Secondly any tips to create a breakaway?

thanks again in advance guys Smile

Do never trust the AI! Wink

When selecting riders for a race, there are two factors after which you should select your team:
attributes and form.

If you want to win the race, you need a rider with a good stat for the terrain
(flat -> Flat and Sprint value, hilly -> hill value, mountain -> mountain value, TT -> TT value) and/or good fitness.

So if you just focus on one stage or one race (sponsor goals etc.), pick the riders who fit the race style and who have a good form.

For building up fitness, you need "practise races" before the actual event. So if you prepare Cav for the Tour, let him ride the Dauphine or Suisse + the NC, for the WC the Vuelta and so on, so let the important riders get 10-15 race days from about a month on before the important race.

For creating breakaways, there is not much to say.
Stay at the front of the peloton with your rider, and counter-attack riders when the attack themselves. Two important factors for having a breakaway which won't be reeled in soon:

- your rider shouldn't be too good and shouldn't be too high in the GC
- the breakaway shouldn't consist of too many riders, less than 8 have better chances

You need much luck for being in a successive breakaway, so keep on trying.

I hope I was able to answer your questions, feel free to ask further if you don't understand or need additional help.

thanks for the great naswer Grin Its VERY helpfull! But when selecting riders at the start of my season does it matter if i pick the stronger riders in small event etc? And also while im typing lol, what exactly do the gel bars do and how an i benefit from them?

You need to keep in mind that the race fitness (the one up to 20) decreases after 60 race days, so if the race isn't important or your good riders are in bad form or the races don't suit them, either do not take part there or send some weaker riders.

I would recommend about 30-40 race days for your team leaders before a GT if it's the last season goal. I you peak for several races with one rider, let him ride only the races directly before the peak (as I said in the first post).
