Sony Ericsson are really turning into a team who can't remember how to lose at the moment, and the story is all about them 11 races into this 2011 season - as the remarkable story of their team continues. In 2008 they gained promotion to the ProTour in the final race of the season, and although the following season they were relegated - they have bounced back with a bang. They led the continental tour for the entire 2nd half of the season last year, and now have pulled out an 870 point lead over the next best team.
Their worst scoring race this season was Omloop Het Volk - where Ballan could 'only' manage 10th place - but in total, they are averaging 284 points per race, and have won 4 races when no other team has more than 1.
Still overperforming in 2nd place are pre-season relegation favourites Auber 93. Qatar has not just been a one off for them, and they currently find themselves over 1000 points clear of the relegation zone.
But with Auber not going to be challenging for the ProTour at the end of the season, it means Sony Ericsson have an even larger lead over their likely rivals. 3rd placed Pearl Adidas - the only team in the Top 9 yet to have won a race overall - trail Sony Ericsson by 1180. The Pearl team in turn lead Festina by 99 points - and then there is a 200 point gap to 5th placed Wikipedia - with all other teams, bar Lafarge, relatively closely packed.

If Yuri Trofimov was a team all on his own, he would not even be in the relegation zone. He has quickly accumulated a lead of over 500 points - and it his teammate Ballan in 2nd. And with the Cobbled Monuments and Ardennes classics next on the calendar - both are set to maintain Sony Ericsson's early charge.
2nd in Pais Vasco lifts Rodriguez Oliver to 3rd, ahead of Catalunya winner Valverde and Criterium International winner Sanchez. Sony Ericsson, Festina and Wikipedia account for 6 riders of the Individual Top 10 at the moment.

Have been away for personal reasons but I've been catching up on how my team has been doing and I'm surprised to see us in 3rd place. Only had mediocre results since the Tour of Qatar (with a couple of exceptions).
I also though that surely Sony Ericsson would be leading the rankings by over 10.000 points by now

Well done by Rodriguez - much better than I had expected. Reimer, being my 2nd best placed rider currently, also shows his talent.

13th is not bad after 3 of the cobbled classics and a poor Vuelta al Pais Vasco.
Criterium International and Catalunya are keeping us there, but hopefully we will be higher before the Giro, after Ardennes and Romandie.
Also amazing performances by Sony Ericsson (my favorite phone company ). Trufimov almost scored the same amount of points that my entire team did.

Seeing that I have been quite unsatisfied with my Pre-Giro results, I have to be more than happy about my position. La Gazzeta will probably be leading after the Giro even in their current position, but this time a lot of teams have gained a good ground, so It will be very interesting to see what it's all about after the Italian GT!
