Mountains! The riders will climb two today, with the top of one being the stage finish. Will Kirchen be able to mantain his lead?


Nobody tries to attack in the beginning of the stage, which makes it possible for some riders to fight for the intermediate sprint. Westling takes it, in front of Mora and Lloyd.

After the sprint, three riders attack. Kupfernagel, Barrio and Teklehaimanot escape from the peloton.

Teklehaimanot is the first over the first mountain of the day. Kupfernagel was dropped from the front group during the climb.

Ribeiro, Grau and Laverde Jimenez try to escape from the peloton after the fight for some mountain points.

Barrio wins the second sprint. There's a nice cooperation in the front and they have a fine gap on the peloton (more than 4 minutes), but they have to climb a lot, which will hurt their chances for the stage win.

The three late attackers are caught, along with Kupfernagel, are caught when the road starts to incline, thanks to the work of Bacardi and Santander.

Perez Sanchez is the first to attack in the final climb. 15km yet to run.

Larsson quickly joins him.

Niemec does the same, with 8km to go. The riders from the early break are close, very close, from this group.

But all of them, apart from Teklehaimanot, who tries to get a gap again, are reeled back, with 5km to go.

After this, new attacks. Kirchen and Siutsou quickly are the head of the race, after passing Teklehaimanot.

They aren't the only ones to do that. Abal, Perez Sanchez, Larsson, Kilun, Ortega and Niemec also want to escape.
