Custom career or normal?

Which do you guys prefer, custom team where you select your superstars, make a jersey and rise to the top.

Or do you start with a powerhouse and dominate the competition??

I use the third variant. I start with an existing small conti team. Additionally I do not plan to rise to the top. (unless of course I play a existing Pro-Tour team)

I like add myself and a few friends into the DB, no great attributes but enough to compete with upper-level conti riders, then I add a healthy margin for potential. Create a Custom team, I like to use Focus-SilverStreak, there is a Jersey selection which matches well. The first year is all about getting the team equipment necessary to compete, then hire a good support staff within the given budget, and try to make it to the Pro Tour selection for the following season. I try to be a loyal manager and train the squad and pray for rider improvement. Though its difficult to resist adding popular free-riders when their contracts expire, there needs to be a role position free.

I prefer to go for custom teams and spend long careers getting them promoted over like five years. Btw to do this you must go about 0-20% orientation of custom team. Or to go for a low pro tour team and bring them up to win the tdf and pro tour.
