adding custom scouting zones?

hi, i've been trying to add some custom scouting zones to the game, but it didn't turn out the way i wanted it to be. i've edited and created the pictures for the map and edited all of the relevant fields in the STA_newrider sections, but i'm having a hard time figuring out the right values for the pos_x and pos_y fields, so the game crashes every time i try to use the new zones.

could someone please tell me how to work out these coordinates so that the pictures would get in the right place, also i'd be really grateful for a short tutorial on how to add new zones from someone who has done it before. thanks in advance!
