If it's a jersey someone else made, PM them and ask them for the .PSD file.

If you're using Photoshop and the document has layers, then simply save it as a .psd.

Which actually means you dont have to merge your image, just save it after you have finished with it, if you want you can save it under another name if you have merged it.
