I have repeatedly tried to start the game via the autorun shortcut and nothing happens. Last night during my career I shut down my computer while a stage was loading and I hav enot been able to open the game up since. I deleted the save game and used the back up...no luck. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling...no luck. I am now out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can get back to playing my favorite game! |

I have the same problem with the autorun, but I can launch the game directly via the pcm.exe in the program files folder.
But I suppose you've already tried that? |

Tried it and it did not work. I am lost because I have never had this problem before and my game rarely crashes. Maybe shutting down while loading really messed it up somehow. But a fresh install should have cured that. |

Sounds like a broken save game.
First ,back up your Pro Cycling Manager folder in My Documents. Then delete it and open the game. That should fix it.
In the backup folder, open My Docs/PCM/Database/Solo/<name of DB>. This is your save games. The .cdb one is broken and won't work. Instead, try the one ending with .cdb~ . This is a backup of your broken save game. Move it to new folder (appears after you've opened the game) and check if you can open your game. |

Thanks CrueTrue. But I am a little confused on what exactly to do. Sorry, I am not very good with computers. I know your instructions were thorough, but I am confused about "First ,back up your Pro Cycling Manager folder in My Documents. Then delete it and open the game." Also this part I am not sure as to what to do exactly, "Move it to new folder (appears after you've opened the game) and check if you can open your game." Thanks for your help and if you could just clear up exactly how to do those thngs I would appreciate it. |

I'll try to be more clear
1. Open up your Documents folder. Inside it, there's a Pro Cycling Manager folder.
2. Rename the folder to Back Up Pro Cycling Manager (or something like that).
3. Start Pro Cycling Manager 2009 and see if it works.
If it does, return to this thread and let me know. |

I tried that but it did not work. The menu screen will not even open I don't know if I made that clear enough. Thanks for your help. |

Right, I'm very sorry. Apparently, I had stopped reading your 1st post after the first couple of lines.
Do you have any firewall and/or Anti Virus Program? If so, shut it down. Also, try uninstalling again. When it's done uninstalling, make sure to delete the Pro Cycling Manager folder in Pogram Files/Cyanide, the Pro Cycling Manager folder in My Documents, and the Pro Cycling Manager folder in Application Data (you can find this folder by writing %AppData% in the Start Search Bar in Vista or in the Run function in XP). |

I have deleted everything you mentioned. I am reinstalling the game as of now and will update the thread when it is done instaling to let you know if it works. Thanks so much for all your help. |

I doubt you'll get a response this late. I'd try again tomorrow. You never know however, you might get lucky. |

What about the firewall / antivirus? When I had Norton installed a few years ago, it stopped me from opening the game from time to time. |

I tried turning off my antivirus software that did not work. However, I tried hosting a sprint game on gamecenter and i quit out to the main menu and it worked!!! My career is gone but it is ok. Now, is it possible to open the game without the opening menu where you have to click play to get to the real menu of the game??? |

Yes.
Open My Computer -> Your Hard Drive -> Program Files -> Cyanide -> Pro Cycling Manager. Locate PCM.exe and make a shortcut to it on your desktop. |

Is it under the Autorun folder, along with "Data" folder? If so I tried that folder and it did not work, but I think I might have done it wrong... |

Nope, not the Autorun folder. In the main folder (Program Files/Cyanide/Pro Cycling Manager). The file is called PCM.exe. |

Ok I think that might be the problem..I cannot locate the PCM.exe in My Computer/Local Disk/Program Files/Cyanide/Pro Cycling Manager. |

Update: I opened task manager once I got to the main menu (via quitting a game from gamecenter) and PCM.exe was listed under the processes. Now...I can't find it under the files you told me to look in CrueTrue. However, if you could just give me the line I have to enter the command prompt I could put in the command to start PCM.exe that way. Thanks for the help so far and hopefully I can finally resolve this issue.
EDIT: Found a way to open the game through the folders that CrueTrue instructed to do. Thank you to all of those who helped!!!
