Hey
I appologize if this has been on the boards before (probably has but couldn't find it). When I try to start the game on my new laptop I get the massage:
"Failed to initalize 3D-engine, please make sure that your drivers to both graphics card and your motherboard are up to date".
It might be that my drivers are not up to date, but I have been able to run more graphically challenging games than PCM09, so I think it should work.
Anybody else encountered this or have any suggestions?
(If this has been discussed before, please just drop me a link). |

Have you been able to run the game before? Or did that happen during your first launch? |

Happened during first launch. I've tried 20 times, and it just doesn't want to work.
My graphics-hardware is NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT |

I have the exact same graphic card - works fine here, though.
I know that this sounds weird, but try adjusting your screen resolution, e.g. to the game's standard of 1024x768.
I also remember a case from a previous game. In that one, it helped changing the compatibility settings (right click the .exe, compatibility, Windows XP) |

Tried both, but neither worked.
Thanks, though. Guess I'll be calling some hotline service in the morning.. |

Maybe try to run it as an administrator if you are using Vista.

As Kami says, even if you're logged in as admin, you should try running the game in admin mode (right click the .exe, select "Run as administrator" . |

Could you post your system (Graphic card, motherboard, proccesor, etc.), this can be found by execing dxdiag.
Edit: Also, are you using a laptop?

I'm using a laptop.
System:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.00Ghz (2 CPUs), ~2.0Ghz
Memory: 4092 RAM
Display:
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
Not sure where to find motherboard-specifications. I'm not really that technically minded, and my computer is set for Danish language.
On another note: In DXDIAG my graphics-card driver displays as follows:
Main driver: nvd3dum,nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2um,
Version: ()
Date:
WHQL-logo: I/T
DDI-version: 10
Is that right?
Thanks for your help, by the way.

Cant see the problem, the only thing i can think off is that you are using a laptop, but with that kind of system it shouldnt give any problems at all, if nobody else knows anything i would suggest to reboot your computer, if that doesnt work maybe try to reinstall it. Srry that i cant help you further.
The main driver you got from DXDIAG is normal.

Last question. If I were to download a driver from the NVIDIA-website should I pick the NVIDIA 9M series? https://www.nvidia...lang=en-us |

You'd be better off downloading the latest driver from the computer manufacturer's website. |
