what are you asking for, a full tutorial on GIMP? I mean, I know how to use it, but I have neither the time nor the inclination give you a full tutorial.

Here's the Gimp file I used to design a jersey for WeightWeenies. It makes extensive use of layers, guidelines, masks, alpha channels, and paths.
Maybe someone will find this helpful as a starting point in getting comfortable with Gimp.
