PCM rulezz - Thanks, mate
cunego59 - Really hope so! The cobbles are Stijn's future, that's more obvious than ever at the moment. Though the question is: should he put everything on cobbles or try to develop into a top sprinter, too?
Daggen - First post holds a palmares of both riders. Stijn won Tour de Wallonie last year
sutty68 - Thanks Wegmann came off with a scare, it seems. |

Wow, they are doing great lately, Stijn was amazing in the classics... Took a while to catch up(was offline for the whole week), but I knew it was worth it

PS. 50 pages, little celebration!
This is my second longest story so far, I think. Planning to do this much longer, though! |

Hi everyone, tomorrow we ride the opening time trial of the Dauphiné. But before we start racing, some more news from the pack!
Giro d'Italia 2013
Roman Kreuziger prolonged his 2012 title with style! Kruijswijk finished a brilliant 6th!
GC
| 1 | Roman Kreuziger | Astana Pro Team | 89h11'36 | | | 2 | Bauke Mollema | Rabobank Cycling Team | + 10'28 | | | 3 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | + 10'49 | | | 4 | Thibaut Pinot | FDJ-BigMat | + 11'37 | | | 5 | Rigoberto Uran | Sky Pro Cycling | + 14'50 | | | 6 | Steven Kruijswijk | Team Argos-Shimano | + 18'22 | IanButler | | 7 | Tiago Machado | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 18'24 | | | 8 | Domenico Pozzovivo | BMC Racing Team | + 20'47 | | | 9 | Michele Scarponi | Lampre-ISD | + 21'33 | | | 10 | Ivan Basso | Liquigas-Cannondale | + 22'00 | |
Then some news from the papers!
Team Argos - Shimano press conference
Team Argos - Shimano is on the verge of a disaster. Though several riders have performed well throughout the season, the top sprinters of the team haven't a win so far. Team Argos gave a press conference to give some answers. Kittel hopes to be back for the Tour, where he hopes to have his "come-back". John Degenkolb talked about breaking contract, so far for stability with the team.
However, not all is bad. Team Argos has implied that it might shift its focus from sprints to stage races, and even Grand Tours. For next year, their leaders might include Kruijswijk, Costa and Wouters. For Wouters, who still hasn't a new contract for 2014, this comes as a complete surprise: "I haven't even raced a GT yet in my career, so let's see how that goes first. But I appreciate the trust." Returning a question why Kittel and Degenkolb haven't been performing well, Wouters had the simple answer: "I can't speak for them. Everyone's trying their best, but things aren't always as easy as they seem."
Battle of the Stars
With the Tour de France in sight, emotions heat up in the peloton. The whole cycling world is expecting a clash between Froome (Team Sky) and his formed leader Wiggins (Astana Pro Team). Both men have been battling each other in several races since their split from Team Sky. Wiggins left the team because Froome claimed leadership. The whole world will be following their clashes in the Dauphiné and then in the Tour.
Belgium hope for a podium in the Tour is Jurgen Van Den Broeck. Monfort and Wouters might surprise, too. Though it's only Wouters' first Grand Tour, expectations are high.

10 minutes between Kreuziger and Mollema
I hope that Kittel will prove the world that he is still one of the fastests in the peleton.
So Willy's first WT is the tour, weird, a rider normally raced Giro or Vuelta first. I hope Willy can prove me wrong

PCM rulezz - An incredible Giro, to say the least! I agree with the GT, though Willy had the Giro planned last year, but that was cancelled, you still remember!
kimiopn - Thanks, he'll probably start off co-leading with Costa, supporting each other any way possible
Miguel - stats in spoiler!

Critérium du Dauphiné 2013 - Prologue
Last year, Evans took the win home. Willy and Costa share a leadership here. Stijn will take the sprints for his account.
The prologue takes us over a hill.
It was raining today. I saved a lot of energy for the sprinting stage tomorrow!
I had a pretty good day, hoping to compete with Belgian competitors (thinking ahead for the National TT) De Gendt and Monfort.
I finished with a punch and saw I was a provisional 2nd!
Result
| 1 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | 10'50 | | | 2 | Gustav Larsson | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 4 | | | 3 | Bradley Wiggins | Astana Pro Team | + 6 | | | 4 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | | | 5 | Mikhail Ignatiev | Katusha Team | + 7 | | | 6 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | | | 7 | Willy Wouters | Team Argos-Shimano | s.t. | IanButler | | 8 | Michael Rogers | Sky Pro Cycling | + 9 | | | 9 | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | | | 10 | Maxime Bouet | Ag2r La Mondiale | + 12 | | | 11 | Danny Pate | Team Garmin-Barracuda | + 13 | | | 12 | Maxime Monfort | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | | 13 | Anthony Roux | FDJ-BigMat | s.t. | | | 14 | Chris Froome | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | | | 15 | Samuel Sánchez | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 14 | | | (...) | | 98 | Stijn Van Gent | Team Argos-Shimano | + 33 | IanButler |
Well, a great start here! And a hopeful one with my eye on the National TT!
Until tomorrow,
Stijn & Willy |

Jesleyh - Thanks, I thought you'd like the result
Ollfardh - Hope he won't let you down, then!
sutty68 - Thanks
Jakstar22 - Let's hope to continue this way.
Stromeon - Kreuziger is impressive, it must be said! The Tour will be magical
FreitasPCM - I'll try to post it next time, if I don't forget
PCM rulezz - Indeed, makes me hopeful! If he could pull it off, that would be amazing, national TT champion!
Got a busy day today, so will try to squeeze in the race right now, but will have to hurry the race, luckily it's a flat one
If the report ain't up here in an hour, it'll be for later tonight or even tomorrow. (got a gig in 2 weeks and need to rehearse with the band urgently) |
