Great goalkeeping at one end, and poor goalkeeping at the other

Typical chauvinism by the Dutch commentator, saying that 'Janmaat could not do anything there' and naming it an 'unfair penalty'.
Oh well. 2-1 Australia, Landgraaf is silent, except for me, I'm laughing very silently
He has a point, Janmaat can't do anything there but at the same time, his arm shouldn't be trailing like that either.
It's a handsball as soon as the ball hits your arm, whether you can do anything about it or not.
The rule don't really work like that, it's a very unclear rules with intent, natural/unnatural position, ball search the hand or not and other stupid shit like that. They really should clarify the rule so it's not even debatable. I want to clarify that i'm not saying it was the wrong call.
No worries, I never intended to blame you for thinking it shouldn't be a penalty
It's indeed quite unclear, but Janmaat's case was definately a penalty. Arm loose of the body, ball hits the ball = penalty.
Meanwhile it's 2-3 I kinda like Depay though, he's an okay player, but I hate the fact that the Dutch are in front again

He went down super easy though, free kick was for Robben touching the ball with his arm when he was down on the ground. |

Spain currently stuffed, especially as, judging by this performance, they'll wind up losing to Australia as well.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm gutted for the Aussies. They deserved a lot more.
At least I salvaged something for the Prediction Game though.

Well done Australia done you're nation proud. IMO this Aus team is very avg indiviually, most would not make the worst of Prem teams but this just shows you what teamwork can do. What a beast Cahill is i assumed he lost it as when players go MLS it is only downhill form thier. |

that's it, I don't get Holland.
the whole game against Spain: Nothing, no noise at all.
preceding against Australia: a little, still annoying
1-0 against Australia: a little, annoying
2-2 against Australia: a crap load of noise
2-3 against Australia: almost nothing
god damn freaking hypocrites

I already love this World Cup just because of the madness around refs, goals galore, a lot of standard situation goals and the renaissance of the 3 central defender defense.

Australia unlucky team of the tournament so far. I hope they win against Spain. Too bad Cahill is suspended though.

Nice game by Netherlands with way better control over midfield in the second half. Sneijder improved, that Memphis guy was also a good replacement. Van Persie's goal was class, third goal of NL quite lucky. Important three points for Robben & Van Gaal's quest.
Seems like I can't really take dutch people serious on this board when it comes to football, or anything?
Also, this was not a penalty in my opinion, since the distance was way too short fyi.
Bit sorry for Australia, who put a surprisingly strong performance and who made this a very entertaining match.
@Rin: Agreed, very good games so far. I think the climate increases the factor of "mistakes" in comparison to normal matches, and this only makes it more interesting & entertaining to watch.

Well, that sucked.
Second half was a bit better. Penalty was doubtful, Janmaat couldn't really help it, and ''ball went to the hand'' not the opposite. But okay.
Referee wasn't bad, but I don't like how strict he was. Sometimes you just have to let the game play on, instead of whistling for light fouls.
Good thing is that we're more the underdog now. We're better as underdogs anyway, we rarely do something when we're expected to do great.
(2008: No huge expectations, we slaughter the 2 WC finalists. We go out by Russia.
2010: Never really a big contender, not after the group either, still final
2012: Expectations, WC finalist after all. Massively failing)
