He said numerous times that he looks how it goes and guys like him always ride to win but one of the main reasons is to get kilometers for next year already. Pretty common. Froome didn`t have too many race kilometers this year.
Good damage limitation by Froome so far, fighting there. (EDIT And no even leading... oho!)
