Contador has attacked?
EDIT: Just went for bonification seconds.
He was in break of 31 riders but Movistar got him back. |

It's not looking good for an entertaining third week now.

I don't think Froome will be back into contention, but I hope Purito will animate the race.
Pinot abandoned.

Why? There are still Valverde, Contador, Froome, Rodriguez, Uran and many more. |

Noo :/
Oh well. Katusha is leading the peloton and wants a stage for Rodriguez. With Caruso and Moreno they could really cause damage on this climb... |

Looks like Kiryenka is going to perform another solo attack, hoping to repeat his last year's stage win.

Sad that Quintana had to leave. Quintana had even said that he was ready to help Valverde in mountains. And Valverde had been helping Quintana on stage 4. Both riders have shown maturity despite being GT winners. Unlike certain Brits (or they claim themselves to be) who could not get around their ego to an agreement to ride in TdF. |

I would point at only one of those Brits. who is riding Vuelta right now, as the other one declared that he doesn't see any problems in being a helper during Tour (at least how he stated in media).

Well it still might be fairly interesting but Quintana has abandoned, Froome has looked off-colour, Valverde will probably fade in the third week because he did the Tour and faded in the last week there and Uran doesn't exactly set the mountains alight. And Purito is doing his 5th GT in a row

Always bad news when riders can't carry on and have to abandon and today seems to be Vuelta's black day with so many guys out of the race.
For the race excitement, well, we do lose our Wildcard but the Vuelta has been exciting enough in recent years without Q, so no worries about that.

Froome dropped. No longer in contention whatever the GC says. He said he came here for race kilometers, so carry through.
Barguil attack!
