Gilanipoor! Great to see the man getting a stage win here, love it. Nice to see two of our young guns in Waersted and Nikiema enjoying breakaway days here and Bennett not losing time for once. Still really needing improvement from our man.

Boom! We grabbed a deserved stage win which I'm delighted about considering this field strength. We're also beginning to sit pretty in the GC and we look pretty good to secure a top 5 overall, although we ideally need to put more time into Talansky, Oomen and Choi tbf.
I expected Pluchkin to struggle a little more on these hill stages but it seems that a few of these are more medium mountain stages rather than outright hilly stages.

Not really much to say here, except from that seeing how the hilly stages have played out I should have sent Yates - with his SP and ACC he wouldn't be losing seconds due to getting caught behind late splits like Carthy, at least in theory.
Disappointing to see Guerreiro and Figueiredo alternating losing time and our complete refusal to go in breakaways, but if they can both move up into the top 30 on Stage 8 and Carthy can cling onto a top 10 (or more likely top 12) then I'll be happy. |

Team doing what was wanted on these stages now really out stage hunting. Just missed by Squire to really help us out with some solid points.

Good stage, much needed for us both in terms of the few bonuses and a bit of time gain, but need just as good tomorrow really before the TT and I'm not sure if it's going to happen. Will be a nervous wait for sure

I want to see a big breakaway from our guys in tomorrows mountain stage. Last chance to score some points.

Not a good stage for Lopez. This should have been a chance for him to gain some seconds on everyone else but he seemed very weak today. Hopefully he will recover well as he cant afford any time losses tomorrow.

I would complain about us not being in any breaks, Carthy being the first rider on the wrong side of every single split at the finish and Figueiredo losing more and more time each stage, but we could probably score zero here and still be top of the rankings so I shouldn't complain too much |

Finaly on the right side of the split, nice work guys!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Another day in the Volta a Pluchkin. Conrgats to Popo. It should be walk in the park now. Massive race.
It's quite open behind, especially the battle for 3rd place. I would have hoped to see Gesink in the fight for the win, but a podium place is very much still in the cards. Kudus being the most direct rival next stage should be decisive.
Amazing reports and pace, Abi! Thanks for the effort mate!

Ah yes, Krizek up to 28th while Intxausti is 25th. Still need more breakaway appearances, however clearly it was a good decision as even guys like Gautier couldn't do anything against raging peloton

Bonus seconds are killing us, but podium is still very likely given Kudus should put some time on Lopez in the mountain stage

This race has been a complete disaster for our team. Sending Montoya instead of Paulinho must have been one of the biggest mistakes I made in planning this season

Good showing from Azman but obviously breakaways cannot be successful when I have a rider in them.
Smith again losing some time but still in a decent GC position let's see how he does in the mountain stage. |

Well that was unexpected. I'm not too worried about dropping out of top 5, but this stage really caught me off guard. Was expecting a standard 'best climber wins' scenario but having a Latour and Meintjes take this mesmerising gap is sort of a kick in the butt. Anyway congrats ryant! Superb victory.
I'm hoping the TT works more accordingly to expectations.
Another very enjoyable report Abi, thanks (even though you spelled Torte instead of Torre )!

Losing time on the people we couldn't lose time to, top 5 will be really hard now. Congrats to Meintjes for a very strong win!

What else could be expected than a bad form day for my leader in the most important stage. Interesting move of Smith to go in the break but he forgot he's not wearing a Bennelong-Mitchelton jersey anymore so it couldn't end in a success.
Him not even finishing in the top30 and dropping more spots in the GC is the consequence. Absolutely laughable how my team finds different ways to impress with poor performances. |

Some odd results here, Talansky having a bad day is disappointing but I can't complain much myself compared to others, at least the rest of my team is doing very ok. Thanks for the steady reports Abhi.

Meintjes simply loves that climb; he was already the strongest rider last year, and he repeats it this time - including the stage win. Great job!
A bit gutted to see such a weak 2020 edition of Talansky, who took 4th place on this stage last year. But as Matt said, the rest of the team did well - especially Masnada, who will leave Portugal with a Top 20 GC result. Looking forward to next year
And thanks for the report, Abhi! Those mountain stages with something going on all around the place at the same time aren't easy to report, but you did a great job!
