This shows how important Dall'Oste is for Senni, he's the only support and he goes on the attack, not our best moment.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thank you Senni for at least co-operating with De La Cruz to minimize our time loss. There are a lot of ground to make up in the next stages |

It sounds weird to say it on a day where we lose the overall lead, but I am really happy with the outcome of today's stage. I figured Shikai was the favorite when Warbasse took the jersey, and it's playing out as I anticipated. Warbasse is not as strong as him. I can't be disappointed with that because it's very obvious on paper that that should be the case based on stats.
In fact, I'm thrilled that Warbasse continues to be so great. Another podium, and a stage where he actually gained time on almost everyone, including several guys who are better than him on paper. Larry has basically been riding well above his class to save our season, and I'm very grateful for that.
I'm interested to see how he'll cope with the long, gradual climb tomorrow, given that his mountain is his weak point. If he can get through tomorrow and put in a good TT in stage 13, we cans tart talking about defending GC positions.
So that's my hope for tomorrow, along with AKA surviving.
Congrats to Rakuten!

Better from Reis, but still far from ideal. Three minutes down on Shikai already is shocking, but the Japanese is tearing this race race apart! Congrats valv

Bit of a doubled-edged sword that from Marquez, rising in the GC while losing more time. His small slump does arrive after two podiums. Hopefully, this was just a one-off. No one joining the break again is a letdown.
Haven't said it in a while, but great reports throughout jph

Good thing I left that out here so I don't have to type it again. Carlsberg is looking good to pass us again just before the season finish.

Just realised we have 5 guys in the top 30 of the GC, if we can hold that until the finish this may yet become one of our better scoring races all season, even if the majority of them are between 20th and 30th.

Nerz climbs back into the top 10 GC while Ablenado and Teklehaimanot fight for top 20 just maintaining Kraftwerk's lead in the Team but its less than a minute.
Congrats to Valv & BBL and commiserations to Gustavovskiy.
Thanks for the great reports jph.

Very good stage for us with Marquez on the podium again and moving up in the GC, Bardet with a good breakaway ride to finish 7th and Poels also getting involved in early proceedings.

Brandt was sent here to aim for top 20, the longer he hangs in in the top 10 the better |

Having seen these last 3 stages now in a row, astounding performance by Warbasse he's really performing super (maybe I should've kept him ), it's funny how he's now my aim to remove from 2nd place. Surprised how strong he's climbing, Shikai looks in control but you never know when a bad day can pop, Machado is doing perfect and consistent as I expected and he's legitimately defending his podium spot.
It's looking very good so far, ain't showing weakness. Congratz to all winners so far and thank you jph for all the reports!

  VICTORY
Warbasse attacking and winning in the mountains was not part of my wildest dreams for this race. I'm shocked. PCM is always bizarre in how it randomly chooses who will over and underperform. I am just insanely lucky that Warbasse, along with a guy like Brandt, has been chosen to really go for it here. After a year of misfortune, I can't say it doesn't feel good. At the same time, there's definitely a part of me that thinks (knows) I don't deserve it.
Regardless, today was absolutely enormous for our overall prospects in this race. i still think Shikai will run away with this, but we have a legitimate chance to end up on the podium, and potentially in several classifications. We've built up a solid buffer on GC that should help us if we fade.
I do wish I was getting a little more out of Garby, but how could I possibly complain with the outcomes here? We are scoring points. With Lierse and Carrefour scoring big in other races, we're staying with them at least somewhat. It's more than I could have hoped for.
It's been a long time since I've won a mountain stage, that's for sure. I'm gonna savor this one.

This race is looking better and better, and if we can hold on to the win, it will be a massive points haul, as we have been without the yellow jersey for only 3 stages I believe. Shikai looks very strong, but need to be prepared for a bad day. The buffer he's built up looks good, and hopefully Warbasse returns to his 78 MO level, or else he may be a very serious threat soon as well.

Pretty trash effort from AKA, but yeah, I think this is still a good day.

"3km to go, and Itami, Manarelli, Aberasturi, Haller and McLay look well positioned"
Aberasturi - 1st
Manarelli - 3rd
McLay - 4th
Itami - 5th
Haller - 11th (a shadow of his former self, he won 4 stages last year )

We were so close to getting a stage win there, would be amazing if we could pick one up somewhere along the way.

Impressive and unexpected victory from Aberasturi beating Page. It makes me wish it could have been Chen, but I'm happy just to get his Chinese NC on the reports.
Congrats Bjartne!
