Breaking Confidence, dead DB issues
The Hobbit
Santos Tour Down Under

Then as now, the biggest early race was the Tour of Australia. It was mostly flat, with a few hilly stages, so a sprinter or a puncher could win.

On the queen stage I set off in attack with my two helpers, Javier and Christopher

Thanks to their work I was in the group of favourites, and it still had the strength to give it a go for GC.

Unfortunately I was still not strong enough, a late attack from Peter Sagan, resplendent in Santander outfit, was enough for the win.

I was 5th, and since every other stage was a bunch sprint, that is where I finished.

It was a decent start, but I was still hungry for a win, and until then every other result would be a disappointment.

There's no shame in losing a race from Sagan Wink

This is 2015 Sagan as well, so he's basically superman.

More Early Season

After the Tour Down Under I had a nice long gap before races. I got back to racing in Murcia, a mountainous classic. It was a fascinating race, with....
Wow, stop, seriously. This interview is dragging on a bit, can we shorten it down or no one will bother to read the article.
Uh but... Ok.

I won in Murcia, with Javier even coming second! We attacked together and relayed to the line. My season contined in a similar vein. No assize world tour successes, but lots of close runs and victories in less important races. Wherever I went, Javier was my assistant, and he also achieved some remarkable results.

Then it came to the classics. I got a selection, but it wasn't my thing. I really should stick to the high mountains, as I struggled to manage top 20s. After that learning curve I learnt to be more conservative in the medium mountain stages.

Of course, the big goal of my season was la Vuelta, and that was what really mattered.

Spoiler
I'm afraid this is my way of bringing this story to an end. I has to end in 2018, so it will. Right now though I haven't got time to do this properly. Therefore it will have to switch to a non-pcm story. It won't have much quality of reporting, but even so, I'll try my best to give it the finish it deserves. I think it's a nice idea for a story, and it was probably too early in my story writing career to start something like this, as I have not done a very good job. Thanks to anyone who follows
