Well atleast the mountain stage played out like a mountain stage
I was hoping Ji rode just a little above his weight, as this was a pretty weak field bar 1 or 2 riders, but 5th will certainly be acceptable as long as it can be held.

Finally a good mountain stage, and a good one for me personally. Two people now in the top 10 is good, just hope they can hold on.

In terms of entertainment value, that stage was great, hopefully more mountain stages in the management game will be like that. It was a great spectacle.
The same can't be said for the Bouygues team. Bring back the flat!

I should now have a top 10 garunteed as long as Alizadeh doesn't lose any time tomorrow, and I didn't think he would go that well here. Hopefully Schurter will be able to do something tomorrow, especially as it seems like it is a downhill finish or at least there is definately dowhill in the last 5 km anyway.

I don't know what happened but since March began hilly and now mountain stages have started to be ridden properly. I hope the tendency endures.

Those top sprinters just dropping out of the pack while similar guys can easily follow is something strange. Might become a problem come GT time. Clearly, they are on some sort of conserve energy mission. Happened in Middle East aswell with them all finishing outside the time limit.
Congrats to Castano on a beatifull win in a nice mountain stage!

I incredibly fear that for the Giro and the Tour for apparant reasons.
We might be left with one rider after the first mountain stage in Italy

Great report of a great legendary climb, this is how the mountain stage should look like (it would be really stupid to have lesser gaps on such a monster).
Congrats to Castano/ING, shame that Ratiy was so unaware at the start of the climb, but he showed some Ukrainian power climbing there!

Dunno if i should be happy or dissapointed... With a little smarter riding Ratiy should've won this

Good stage with nice report. Bosisio did OK I suppose. Hope we can get something out of the remaining sprints in this race.
Btw, if Genting is legendary, what's L'Alpe D'Huez? |

Not happy with the fact that some second tier climbers got away like that. Would've liked to have seen Osella or Dyachenko follow the early move.
Will be tough to improve in the GC now, but I hope Dyachenko can do something on the hilly stage.

If only Peraud hadn't lost 6 minutes in the mountain-stage nice effort here in 7th stage. Seems like he did understand my frustation and got the message.
A bit surprised to see Gerrans so far behind though. Had hoped for him to shine in the hills. Now back to invisible flat-stages for Oz. Peraud needs to keep this GC-position at least.

Yes! That stage could hardly have gone much better!
Great result from Atkins and a superb move up the GC for Dyachenko. Only bad thing is Osella's amateur mistake of staying in the peloton.

Not a bad day for me, Soler moving up two places while Ardila drops back two places. I can't see anything else happening amongst the GC favourites, but hopefully one of my riders can get lucky in a break.

Well Genting is a legendary CTour climb at least Seriously though I love the little bit of mystique that surrounds Genting, seeing a sinewy South American climber romp up it ahead of suffering Europeans. Obviously lacks the prestige of the big Grand Tour climbs but outside of the Grand Tours it's got to be up there.

I fully agree, it was great to see a breakaway take the bonus seconds while Carlos marked his nearest GC rivals thanks to another good performance by him and the team.
Nice win for Sauber, now I hope that Barzajev has something left in the tank!

Good last stage. Good to see Ji moving up into 4th, I am quite happy with that result, but with a bit stronger riding Shikai could have been a bit better placed and maybe squeaked in for a few points, as well as a little better in the youth category.
When I saw that the breakaway was almost certain to hang on, I was worried that it meant Ji would move down in the GC with the break riders eventually getting a large enough gap not to take 1st in the GC but Top 5 like what does sometimes happen in PCM. Thankfully it didnt

I knew we'd get a good result from a Swiss rider on this stage, I didn't expect to win it though, or for it to be that rider so I'm absolutely delighted with that stage.
If I had to pick a downside it would be that there arent more hilly stages to try and steal the young riders jersey from ratiy as the way he's been riding I think it would have been possible.
Hopefully we can keep going like this for the rest of the season.

That all kicked off a bit there in the closing stages. Good to see Bosisio have himself a go. |
