3rd last place in a row for Germany. So unforgettable,even in a year as weak as this year it will still flop so hard. The start is a cheap rip off of 'Titanium' and the song lacks a hook you can latch on to.
Anja Nissen won the Voice Australia but she has Danish parents so she has competed in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. She came 2nd last year with a song written by Emmelie De Forest (which in my opinion is better than her song this year)
It's finally the time every Eurovision and Melodifestivalen fan has been waiting for, Loreen finally performed her comeback entry 'Statements' in the final heat of Melodifestivalen, she was in fact the last performer of the year. There was so much hype behind this song as 'The Family' wrote the entry, the same writers behind Måns Zelmerlöw's 'Heroes', but in true MelFest fashion all details about the song and performance were kept confidential until Saturday night.
Surprisingly Sweden did not respond to Loreen's statement and she will have to fight for a place in the final through the second chance round where she will duel against Anton Hagman's Shawn Mendes rip off entry. Loreen came into the heat as the outright favourite to win the contest and Eurovision but this wobble may affect her. In the nature of the song I can only see it growing on the viewers, the performance is stirring and memorable with references to Nazis, war and much more. Loreen has the biggest name in the contest of course, the dream of having her in Eurovision though may not become a reality.
It is starting to look like Russia will not be taking part in this years contest. They have 2 days to announce an entry, they haven't turned up to any delegation meetings.
Last night was the last night for national finals, now we have 39 songs out of the 43 (maybe 42, hey Russia). Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Lithuania took the chance to choose at the last weekend of the selection season.
Robin won in Sweden after 6 weeks of competition in Melodifestivalen. Robin defied the odds and won MelFest after only coming 3rd in the Swedish televote. Nano came 2nd with Hold On, a Rag'n'Bone Man-style drum and bass banger. Therefore I Can't Go On will be performed for Sweden in Kyiv in May.
In Norway, JOWST came through to the win the super final with the EDM song Grab The Moment.
Robin Bengtsson slayed the pack yesterday. The studio version itself is nothing special but the staging took the song to the next level. Great show. My favourite for this years eurovision.

And Russia is participating this year, with Julia Samoilova, disabled since her childhood, therefore their target is to not only get diaspora but also sympathy points. And you just can't boo a person sitting in a wheelchair.

My point exactly, the song is poor, she herself is a poor singer, Russia are desperate to win. Massive controversy as she has performed in Crimea and anyone who does so is not allowed on Ukrainian soil, Russia must have known this, it's a deliberate act against Ukraine.
More Eurodrama after Julia from Russia is denied entry to Ukraine in order to perform in Kyiv for the contest. This is because she performed in Crimea which means she is not allowed to enter Ukraine. Now she has been banned from entering Ukraine for 3 years which of course means that she will not be able to fly to Kyiv in May.
There was speculation about this happening, but now it has actually happened...

Correct decision, Russia knew of this law and done it as a deliberate act, but at least their sympathy vote has gone, they also said if the EBU doesn't do anything they will not participate in future contests, ok then you do that Russia, no one will care that your not there.
